  1. Do you think the USA should switch to government run universal healthcare?

Yes. Universal Healthcare is the best solution to the current healthcare problems.

No. Universal healthcare is not the answer as care is poor, and taxes would have to be increased too high.

I have no idea, as I do not have enough information to make that decision.

I think that free market healthcare would be the best solution.

After posting the piece about Nurses traveling to Germany and reading the feedback. I would like to open up a debate on this BB about "Universal Health Care" or "Single Payor Systems"

In doing this I hope to learn more about each side of the issue. I do not want to turn this into a heated horrific debate that ends in belittling one another as some other charged topics have ended, but a genuine debate about the Pros and Cons of proposed "Universal Health Care or Single Payor systems" I believe we can all agree to debate and we can all learn things we might not otherwise have the time to research.

I am going to begin by placing an article that discusses the cons of Universal Health Care with some statistics, and if anyone is willing please come in and try to debate some of the key points this brings up. With stats not hyped up words or hot air. I am truly interested in seeing the different sides of this issue. This effects us all, and in order to make an informed decision we need to see "all" sides of the issue. Thanks in advance for participating.

I am going to have to post the article in several pieces because the bulletin board only will allow 3000 characters. So see the next posts.

Wow, this is really great information to have; I wish you could come "on the road" with us and lend your credibility and experience to our movement for a Single-Payer system in the USA. Thanks for sharing. I'm going to print this and keep it in my speaker's packet so I can refer to it during my presentations when the naysayers try to hi-jack the debate.

You are most welcome!

Ahh yes, a chicken in every pot. We can all ride on the freebie wagon, even though there is no one left to pull it.

Thank God for VOLUNTEER SOLDIERS. Are they sttirring the pot or pulling the wagon?

Food for thought........

Excellent show,I agree that none of the candidates really have the right idea about true universal health care. The CNA and the Medicare For All idea still seems to be the way to go.On Monday I am having my SSDI hearing and according to my attorney I have a excellent chance of winning at this level, SO I will be eligible for Medicare immediately, no two year waiting period D/T the fact that I have already been waiting two years for the hearing.MDs and clinics would have to accept Medicare For All, or they would have to reimburse at a higher rate., OR keep the costs low, like other countries have done .

What scares me about Medicare is that so few doctors will accept patients with regular Medicare, because of the low reimbursement rate .Most Medicare patients are forced to buy an extra supplemental policy, so that they can be seen by a private practice MD.I hear that some clinics are very choosy about what supplemental insurance they will accept.I am new to all of this, any good advice? Clinic nurses?

We should implement a smart card like Taiwan. Things like transplants can be provided by insurance since there's no way to increase the supply right now. Also, train more nurses and doctors. Let only pharmacist students with 2 years of college to compete for seats in pharmacy school.

BTW, no illegals!

I have a question . Probably already answered if so sorry.

If we had uhc system wouldn't our tax burden be offset by our individual savings on health care costs? Things like insurance premiums, money spent on er visits , hospital stays and 20 percent deductibles ?:p:p

I just want to throw in a personal story. i am a nurse, yes one of u guys, who does not have insurance because my agency doesnt offer it and my state is strict with trying to buy your own policy.720 dollars for a family of three, which i, as a single mother cannot afford. i could get a job that offers it but there is none in my area. so people working in walmart are not the only ones without insurance-- this person classified as middle class is definitely hurting for insurance.
