UC Davis New Grad Residency Fall 2020

Published

Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.

@green.tea There is in the application. It asks when you want to start. With two options August or September. Which is why they posted it on the new grad website. Anyway, it doesn't matter as long as you applied to start in August or October.

Oh...I see. I just put the date I applied! ASAP!!

There was 100% no option to choose which cohort start date you wanted. It just asked when you were available to start, which is a normal pre screening question for most applications. Some people last cohort never had any updates to their UCDMC application at all and still ended up being interviewed / hired.

True...it asks that for every position I have applied for ?

Well since you believe there isn't. No need to explain further. I am just here to help. I guess some people know more about this new graduate residency.

Good luck guys.

The application allows you to go back in and check what you submitted, so I went to double check just in case and this was all I found related to a start date! (Photo description: the photo is a screenshot of the preferences portion of the application with the section saying “I can start my new job on or after” and a place to enter a date.)

Regardless of the start date you chose, best of luck to everyone!

Hello everyone!

Some of you are commenting that the status of your UC Davis application changed from "App Received" to "App under Review". Does "App under Review" mean that you will be getting an interview?

I asked a similar question earlier. It seems that "application under review" doesn't really mean anything other than they are reviewing it. If anyone has information to the contrary, please post. I submitted my application on 5/13/20 and my status changed to "under review" early last week.

Do you mind me asking what area you did your preceptorship in and what area you requested in your cover letter (if you requested one!)? Thank you!

No. It means that your application has been routed to the units that are hiring and the nurse manager(s) are reviewing you app.

I graduated from an ADN program (I have Bachelor’s in Biology) and they did not have preceptor hours. However, I completed an externship in the hospital setting where I did a lot of training in ICU. I did not request a specific department in the cover letter, but I did mention that most of my externship training was in ICU. I also did not use the proper format (chart on UC Davis website) to document my clinical hours. Some previous posts indicated that this was very important. I’m not expecting to get hired because I know they prefer a BSN and programs with preceptor hours, but it’s worth a shot.

Hello everyone. I applied on 5/13 and my application was changed to “application received.” Did anyone here apply that also applied in the Spring? What did you do different on this application?

Hello everyone,

My application changed from application received to application under review.

Don't really know what does that means but hopefully some good news.

Thanks:)
