New grad- upset about first job
You're not wasting a year because you didn't get your specialty. Learn everything you can from this job and use it for future jobs after that. I'm sure you will see women in med/surg that you will see in L&D, M/B and antepartum; and I can guarantee that you will see the same medications. Also, many people are struggling to even find a job right now.

ER staff at the VA
I have a friend at the VA who says they are also hoarding supplies. Also the local VA has started accepting non-veteran patients to their ICU's.

Nursing with misdemeanor assault charge
It's best to disclose it, especially if its on your rap sheet. My FBI rap sheet is still titled for a reprimand I received in the military, which is not an arrest, charge or conviction; but I still had to disclose to the BRN. It never shows up on any other background and it didn't show up for my school either. The board will know.

fall to CSUEB, for 2017 nursing program ??? !!
As long as it was negative then you're fine. It's pretty common for it to be dilute. If it was too dilute and the temperature was off then you would have redone it that same day.

I just got my results for the WST and passed with "clear competence." If you're worried, the university offers a boot camp to prepare you for it. As for as I know, the nursing department wants you to take it atleast once by fall
