UC Davis New Grad Residency Fall 2020

U.S.A. California

Published

Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.

Do you guys all already have your California nursing license?

Congratulations everyone! As a future applicant it was so wonderful to see many of you accept positions.

I’m currently working on my ADN (grad date May 2021) and BSN (grad date Nov 2021 or sooner). May I ask if any of you had your BSN in progress at the time of application? Any other advice on how to be the most competitive applicant? I’m worried about waiting from the end of April/early May application to mid August for the start date if it didn’t end up working out, so anything I can do now to better my chances will certainly help! ?

Thanks and CONGRATS again!!

CONGRATS on having less than a year left until you graduate with your ADN! Hope school is going well ? This is just my personal insight, but I would try to have work experience and/or your preceptorship on the type of unit you are interested in working on! Also, I would take extra time crafting your cover letter personalized to why you are interested in joining UC Davis. Check out their nursing philosophy! And be clear in your Cover Letter what unit you are interested in! Best of luck ?

Awww thank you so much for the words of encouragement and guidance!! If this year is anything like last it’s going to fly by!! I don’t think my program coordinates preceptors in pediatric ICU, so I’m going to try ICU and go from there. I really appreciate your reply, thanks again!

Are they done screening and interviewing people for October cohort? I stopped checking this thread for awhile now because of anxiety and until now I didn't get a call. Congratulations to everyone who got interviewed and got a position. Hopefully you can share your residency experience with us. ?
