What a ridiculous turn of events. How can anyone justify this?

On Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:59 pm (EST) all USAID direct hire personnel will be placed on administrative leave globally, with the exception of designated personnel responsible for mission-critical functions, core leadership and specially designated programs. Essential personnel expected to continue working will be informed by Agency leadership by Thursday, February 6, at 3:00pm (EST).

For USAID personnel currently posted outside the United States, the Agency, in coordination with missions and the Department of State, is currently preparing a plan, in accordance with all applicable requirements and laws, under which the Agency would arrange and pay for return travel to the United States within 30 days and provide for the termination of PSC and ISC contracts that are not determined to be essential. The Agency will consider case-by-case exceptions and return travel extensions based on personal or family hardship, mobility or safety concerns, or other reasons. For example, the Agency will consider exceptions based on the timing of dependents' school term, personal or familial medical needs, pregnancy, and other reasons. Further guidance on how to request an exception will be forthcoming.

CIA sends 'buyout' offers to entire workforce

The Central Intelligence Agency on Tuesday became the first major national security agency to offer so-called buyouts to its entire workforce, a CIA spokesperson and two other sources familiar with the offer said, part of President Donald Trump's broad effort to shrink the federal government and shape it to his agenda.

The offer — which tells federal employees that they can quit their jobs and receive roughly eight months of pay and benefits — had up until Tuesday not been made available to most national security roles in an apparent cognizance of their critical function to the security of the nation.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe personally decided he also wanted the CIA to be involved, one of the sources said.

The spokesperson said that the move is part of Ratcliffe's efforts to "ensure the CIA workforce is responsive to the Administration's national security priorities," adding that is "part of a holistic strategy to infuse the Agency with renewed energy.”//

For profit major hospital system 1 mile from me filed bankruptcy last week, already closed down 2 hospitals-just 2 left dangling in the wind. They are largest employer in my county. Supposedly hospital consortium led by Penn Health to take over, no word from PA Attorney General who filed suit against them last year for pilfering system. Have enough payroll through Friday, Off to read now.

But in case you haven't noticed the fact that he won the election and the popular vote doesn't change how TMB, or others such as myself feel about the man or some (as @chare likes to say, some, not all) of the people that voted for him.

Yes he won the popular vote by a very very narrow percentage. But it wasn't the majority of the people - it was less than 50%. 50.1% voted against him.

Are you saying then that tearing down the protections that's happening right now is what "we the people" want?

I don't think so. Because I don't think that the majority of his voters access truthful reliable media.

When I go into patient's rooms throughout the day, there are certain ones who have a steady stream of Fox News. They listen to nothing else. I check in to Fox News to see what the headlines are and every day I'm shocked at the deceptive spin and lack of concern for how constitutional principles that are meant to protect individual freedoms and uphold the rule of law are being trampled on. By Republicans!

We don't have a nation governed by mob rule. We are still a Republic with a Constitutional rule - which seems to have become but a mild annoyance to the leaders that won "the popular vote".

We are currently in the midst of a constitutional crisis because of the unprecedented and unacceptable behavior of Trump and Musk. The republic is hanging on by a thread when there aren't really 3 co-equal branches of government anymore. There's just a fascist chief executive who can do whatever he wants instead.

Interesting. Still more votes than Harris. Trump is doing everything he said he would do andbthe people ekected him. Trump wants the states to have primary governence so that is within the republic parameter and not "mob rule". I go into my residents room and they are watching CNN and MSNBC news. Legacy msm has become bias and unreliable.

You aren't paying attention if that is what you think is happening. That's what the rhetoric is telling you and you believe it, but reality is a bit different than that contrived narrative.

Yes, hanging by a thread according to experts in these matters. It took Hitler less than 60 days to dismantle the German democracy and he didn't have traitors in the parliament already to help him or a billion dollar propaganda apparatus already set up like Trump has. But you know that history, right?
