Confirmation Hearings for the Trump's incredibly bad choices for cabinet leadership positions. Traitors, drunks, rapists, pet killers and television personalities were the first choice of the mentally ill old man.
My Senator, Dan Sullivan is all over his social media singing the praises of these folk so we should expect most of them to be confirmed.
Hegseths hearing should be starting about now.

Let me remind you, Trump won the election and the popular vote oh wait, Crusades said it again.
We also live in a world where none of those qualities you mention are disqualifiers. Case in point the one that won the election and the popular vote and is President.
Even without the personal garbage the Fox News employee that's a veteran is not qualified to run the Pentagon. Some of his appointees will make it through but I hope he doesn't.

After the hearing today, I expect that quite a number of the nominees will make it through. We'll have much to discuss in this thread.
One of the things that the hearings will accomplish is to create a public record of the abundant reasons that some of these nominees are dangerously poor choices.
I agree that Hegseth isn't qualified for that very important position. He reeks of right-wing Extremism, right down to his tattoos. One of them on his arm has become a slogan of sorts among some extremists. "Deus Vult" has been referenced by several terrorists in the past 10 years. We'll see.
He said he would restore trust in the military. I didn't know that was one of the institutions we lost trust in. Trump might want to use the military to invade upper Mexico and who knows who else. Fun times.
Most likely the spineless congress not wanting to upset Trump will send him through.
I think the best question to ask why?Why would these disqualifiers result in a Trump election win with the popular vote?
We the People are stupid and a-moral or gullible? Or perhaps it's how the democrats behaved and the way in which prosecutors went after Trump? How they defamed not only Trump but his supporters as well?
Or how they allowed far left progressives rule their policies in fear of being canceled?
Pretty sure Trump wasn't elected again because he's a real stand up guy. He was elected because the people felt he was better then the alternative.

We've discussed this ad nauseum live and in the weeks after. You might not have had the opportunity to talk to TMB about it but stop quoting me and repeating yourself. I've moved on. But see how I believed the results and didn't storm the Capitol, Very demure, very mindful.

It's interesting that the witnesses in this confirmation hearing did not take an oath of truthfulness at the start. Mr Hegseth seems to believe that there are DEI quotas for military leadership when there aren't. He mismanaged funds for two veterans groups but apparently he's going to fix the department of defense troubles with its huge budget and failed audits (according to the opening remarks of the chairman).
Quote On extremism in the military Hegseth has said the Pentagon overreacted by taking steps to address extremism and has taken leadership to task for the military's efforts to remove people it deemed white supremacists and violent extremists. He wrote that the problem is "fake" and characterized it as "peddling the lie of racism in the military.” He said efforts to root out extremism had pushed "rank-and-file patriots out of their formations.” Hegseth was pulled from Washington National Guard duty during President Joe Biden's inauguration after he was flagged as a possible "Insider Threat" by a fellow service member due to a tattoo. Hegseth has said it was due to a Christian cross tattoo on his chest. But the fellow Guard member, who was on an anti-terrorism team at the time, shared with The Associated Press an email he sent to the unit's leadership flagging a different tattoo on Hegseth's bicep that's associated with white supremacist groups. On Tuesday, he said focusing on extremism has "created a climate inside our ranks that feels political when it hasn't ever been political. Those are the types of things that are going to change.”

It's easier to simply call things fake than to actually deal with them.
During the hearing a republican senator spent some time worrying about DEI causing the military to lower its standards (a concern shared by the guy whose standards include public drunkenness, sexual impropriety, and questionable tattoos) all while presenting a visual aid with a prominent misspelled word. That definitely belongs in a DERP State thread.
I was going to watch the Gabbard confirmation hearing today. I forgot that the hearing was delayed by a "paperwork" issue. That's how Republicans are going to describe questions about her fondness for Russian propaganda and denial of Syrian war crimes as they put her in charge of national intelligence? Paperwork issues.
LOL
We can watch this hearing instead. We remember this sychophant. She's the attorney general who solicited a campaign donation from Trump while she was considering if Florida should also hold Trump accountable for fraud in Florida. That potential case was dropped immediately after Trump made a $25,000 donation to her PAC. A bunch of Republicans looked into that and said it was all OK and acceptable to them. LOL
She'll be a good AG for Trump but not for the country. I expect her to be confirmed.

I think she'll be confirmed as well. It will be interesting to see if she will actually draw any line about what she will or will not do. Even Bill Barr said no, eventually.

Apparently she wouldn't admit that Trump lost and said that Biden is our President and sworn in as the President, but not that he legitimately won the election. She's always been an election denier. As I've said before, it's sad that people don't believe in American Democracy. (I mentioned a while back she was reviled by the queer community here in FL when she was AG and actively campaigned against gay marriage (her side won that battle) but she was on her third marriage lecturing us about the "sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman...guess the believed in that three times.)
Plus she's vowed to stop the weaponization of the DOJ. So I guess Trumps adversaries are safe. 🤣
At the end of the day, I agree, she'll get in.
