Trump's DERP State

Published

Confirmation Hearings for the Trump's incredibly bad choices for cabinet leadership positions.  Traitors, drunks, rapists, pet killers and television personalities were the first choice of the mentally ill old man.

My Senator, Dan Sullivan is all over his social media singing the praises of these folk so we should expect most of them to be confirmed.

Hegseths hearing should be starting about now.

From what I saw from the Hegseth and Bondi hearings, they were well coached. They refused to answer what they called hypothetical questions. Hegseth referred repeatedly to "anonymous attacks " and smear campaigns. Bondi was amazingly ignorant about Patel's enemy lists and she never heard the tape of the call to the Georgia governor.

Curated ignorance is something Republicans have been practicing since 2016. She accompanied the incredible claim with a smirk.

Well-coached?  You mean like every other nominee, since ever?

Yes, there were tons of hypothetical questions.

She said there are not any enemy lists.  I'm sure there are people they have in mind to look at, for good reason.  Who cares if there is an actual formally titled "enemy list"?

What call to what governor are you talking about?

I think was just a comment of her being well coached not that it was unique to be coached.  Sone people do well with their coaching some don't.

The semantics are interesting and I think she's being honest that there is not an "enemies list", but given his's teams talk, I have to wonder if there aren't persons of interest Trump or  Republicans wants her to investigate.  Michael Cohen apparently is asking Biden for a future pardon and is encouraging others to as well.

Kash Patel assembled a list of people to be dealt with and published it in a book indicating that if given opportunity he would go after them.  I rather imagine that this was quite attractive to the crazy old guy who campaigned on his fondness for retribution.  Here's Kash Patel's list:

On Jan 21, 2021, Trump made a call to the governor and secretary of state of Georgia, pressuring them to find 10,780 votes, enough to overturn the 2020 vote total in their state. The call was cited in the during the second impeachment and the Georgia election interference case.

As a Trump supporter, it is hard to fathom that Bondi had never listened to a recording of the call.

I call this curated ignorance.  We've seen that before in history.

I'm aware of the call to SOS.  You said governor and didn't say what it was about.  So I didn't know what you were speaking of.

Most people haven't heard the call.

I'm not sure why it's important that you think she's lying about hearing it.

She might not have heard it, but there's videos and evidence of her talking about it, saying it was "free speech".  So again, maybe she's not lying about not hearing it word for word.  She used her office and position to promote the lie he won the election.  She's an election denier, so honesty and integrity aren't important and fair elections are off the table except 2024 where he won the election and the popular vote fair and square.  It's politics as usual but her loyalty to Trump is deep seated.

There's some pretty good evidence that loyalty to Trump was a high priority in choosing cabinet and advisory positions for this incoming administration. The people on Patel's list didn't do anything to Patel, they are people who crossed Trump.  He was advertising his loyalty to Trump's grievances in that book and it got him nominated to the AG spot.

I can understand picking people that are going to be loyal to you and your agenda in things like renewing the tax cuts, the border, etc.  But it's another to pick people that supported your lies, false narratives and possible vendettas.  Somehow I just don't feel this administration is going to be the one to restore our faith in these institutions that are weaponized against patriots and that we've lost faith in when they are shady themselves.  Just sayin'

But time will tell.  As an American I really want this administration to be successful and will acknowledge when that happens.

CEO of Denver-based Liberty Energy, Wright promised to help Trump "unleash energy security and prosperity.”

The centerpiece of Trump's energy policy is "drill, baby, drill,” and he has pledged to dismantle what he calls Democrats' "green new scam" in favor of boosting production of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal, which cause climate change — when they burn, greenhouse gases are released.

The USA achieved historically high fossil fuel production under the outgoing administration.  I bet this guy knows that even though he seems to be singing Trump's dishonest.  At least this fellow understands that fossil fuels are changing our climate and will say it publicly. The coming decade will be interesting.
