Trump's DERP State

Published

Confirmation Hearings for the Trump's incredibly bad choices for cabinet leadership positions.  Traitors, drunks, rapists, pet killers and television personalities were the first choice of the mentally ill old man.

My Senator, Dan Sullivan is all over his social media singing the praises of these folk so we should expect most of them to be confirmed.

Hegseths hearing should be starting about now.

Nearly all scientific communication coming from federal health agencies — including the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention — has been stopped until further notice through multiple directives from the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump's acting secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Dorothy Fink, instructed heads of all federal health agencies in a memo Tuesday to temporarily stop public messaging, pending a review.

It looks like maybe ignorance will be an objective for the Trump administration.

Communications teams from federal health agencies, including the CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services, learned of the pause during a call Tuesday.

"There's a lot of uncertainty right now as this transition occurs,” a CDC official said, adding that it's not "totally out of the ordinary" during transitions.

An HHS official said the same occurred during Trump's first term.

A short pause in messaging is not uncommon as new administrations get up to speed. The HHS official noted that a small pause isn't a cause for concern, but that it could be an issue if it lasts a week or more.

If COVID was any measure, Trump is making sure that scientists aren't contradicting his lies in future public health events.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents raided a Newark, New Jersey, business venue on Thursday and detained undocumented immigrants as well as U.S. citizens without warrants, the city's mayor said.

The big picture: After Mayor Ras Baraka said in a statement a U.S. military veteran "suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned" during the raid. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said he's "reached out to the Department of Homeland Security for answers."

ICE raids had been expected as part of President Trump's vow to crackdown on immigration and deport millions of undocumented immigrants.

Zoom in: ICE agents entered the Ocean Food Depot restaurant where owner Luis Janota said around a dozen immigration authorities detained three people after receiving a complaint, PIX11 News in New York reports.

"I asked [the agents] what documentation they were looking for, and they said it was a license or a passport. I thought, who walks around with a passport?" Janota told the station.

Janota said among the workers questioned was the manager of the restaurant's warehouse, a Puerto Rican man and military veteran. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens.

"It looked to me like they were specifically going after certain kinds of people — not every kind, because they did not ask me for documentation or my American workers, Portuguese workers, or white workers."

Trumps mass deportation efforts are sure to be messy.

Uncertainty about how immigration raids will be carried out and what will happen to those detained by immigration agents has created fear and sent immigrants and advocacy groups nationwide scrambling.

Is the sense of fear part of the objective?  I think so.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested a number of child sex offenders, as well as gang members and other criminals, among the more than 530 illegal immigrants it caught on another day of the Trump-era mass deportation campaign."

The Trump administration has disbanded a school safety board that was recently assembled to advise federal agencies on best practices to protect students.

The Federal School Safety Clearinghouse External Advisory Board, which held its first meeting in October, included school safety experts, alongside the parents of children who died in school shootings, advocates for civil rights and disability rights, superintendents, and leaders of organizations that represent school and district administrators.

Three board members confirmed they'd received notice that the Department of Homeland Security planned to terminate current members of the board under an inauguration day directive that applies to all external advisory committees that work with the agency. Other DHS external advisory committees deal with issues like cybersecurity and infrastructure safety.

This is all part of the concept of a plan to keep children safe, I bet.

I am suspicious that these arrests were staged well before the inauguration to appear as though Trump had anything to do with them. It would be sad to think arrests were delayed, leaving criminals on the street in order to make the mad king look powerful.

Trump might be pressuring the politicians to push his nominees through by creating this dangerous chaos.  The communications can't restart until his sychophants are in place to review and revise them.  That would fit Trump's transactional style.  Quid pro quo.

It's sad to understand that the cited media source paid an historic settlement for intentionally lying about an important matter to the country regarding Donald Trump and yet, people think that that source might be telling them the truth this time.  It's also sad that this administration is quickly politicizing all communications from all essential federal agencies, and those agencies that aren't fully in line yet have just had their communications shut down until further notice.

The people in charge of the federal government are skilled and practiced liars and they are taking quick action to address areas where Trump's lies were publicly contradicted last time.  Nothing this administration says should be taken at face value unless it's dementia Donnie in one of his crazy moments of clarity.  Like when he told his rally goers that they wouldn't ever have to vote again if they voted for him.  Most of the time though, it's just misleading marketing and story telling.

Hmm, I'm not exactly sure of everything you're trying to say.

But, Trump had no authority over ICE until he was sworn in.  So, if arrests were delayed, I'm not sure how he'd be to blame.  But give it a go if you want.

Did you read they arrested several child sex offenders and gang members? Or did you immediately associate this with Trump and come up with a speculation? Completely missing that child sex offenders and gang members are off the streets? Instead of being relieved these terrible criminals are off the streets you defalt to a speculation about Trump?

Trump's ICE literally prevented these criminals from victimizing children. Trump literally takes violent criminals off the street and some sort of fault is found.

It's likely a lucky coincidence.  If they knew about a sex offender and where they were I'd like to think they would have found them and got them.  Under Biden I read the arrests were averaged 300 a day.  Under Trump it's over 500 over two days as he promised.

I think there is generally a majority of people, myself included, that support deporting people here illegally, especially criminals.  I also am skeptical that were are experiencing a crime wave caused by illegal immigrants when there isn't that data.

I also understand that Trump was just repeating what he heard, but saying "their eating the dogs, they are eating the cats" about LEGAL immigrants was fear mongering lies.  The debate stage is not the place to repeat an unsubstantiated claims about legal immigrants.

Under Biden apparently ICE removed a lot of criminals but less in the years prior.  Not sure if that would include a dip due to covid or not.  You might remember some criticism about Biden's open door policy of not vetting properly and releasing criminals.

Newly-released figures about migrants with criminal convictions are being used to attack Democrats for the border policies under President Biden and Kamala Harris.

Donald Trump has used the figures to claim that "13,000 convicted murderers entered our country during her three and a half year period as Border Czar" and said they were allowed to "openly roam our country".

But both claims are misleading.

The new figures released by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) do show some 13,000 non-citizens convicted of homicide were on its records and not in its custody.

However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which oversees ICE, said the figures cover a period of many years, and include migrants who entered the US under the Trump presidency and previous administrations.

It also said that those on the list may not be in ICE custody but could be detained or in prison under the supervision of other agencies.

Now a drunk misogynist who is not in any way qualified is going to be running our department of defense.  Our global adversaries are thrilled by this conservative wisdom, I would imagine.  The guy couldn't manage a small nonprofit budget without questions and failed audits.  He'll figure out out with the biggest budget of the country.
