To the girl who was texting all through chemistry class....

I think I would rather take a teacher who ignores above sleeping classmates rather than berates students who ask another classmate for help since said teacher refuses to explain material. My teacher just spews powerpoint lectures straight from the sheets and when doing the math problems, doesn't even allow students to work them out.... just plasters the problem on the board and the answer underneath without going through how to set up and work the problem. She actually got p***** when I asked the student next to me for help. I was not loud, was whispering and minding our own business since others had asked her earlier to explain and she seems incapable, I did not bother. I was greeted with stone silence and when we looked up she asked if she could go on to the next problem if we were done talking back there. I told her that she could go on as soon as I understood how to set up the problem and get the correct answer. I could not believe that she was upset that I asked someone else for help since she was incapable or whatever the heck you want to call her of giving help. This is also a teacher who says every other problem she tried to work that "that's it I'm going home" because she messed it up. She gets one more week to get her act together and I am going the the Chair of the department as I will have serious doubts about her ability to teach and I WILL NOT fail this class due to her inadequacy as a teacher.

dont you hate it even more when the teacher asks them politely to out the phone away and theyre extreamly rude to her!...Shes the teacher giver her some respect, oh and she is giving you your grade

I agree that rudeness is the norm these days.

If you think that's bad, you will never believe what happened in my Chemistry class.

Someone fell asleep AND STARTED SNORING really loudly in class!

It was sooooo awkward! The rest of us were trying to act like it wasn't happening but at the same time it was so obvious. I felt awful for the teacher. People can be so rude.

LMAO!!! today in one of my classes a girl in the FRONT row got out her laptop and got on my space and facebook and stuff and totally distracted everyone. Like seriuosly- if you want to do that at least sit in the back so everyone behind you doesnt have to watch!!

Are you serious? I would have asked her to move. I was going to confront the girl who was texting in our class a few weeks ago, but she wasn't there yesterday. UGH. And I was so pumped and ready to confront her, as politely as possible of course.

In lab this week, there was an entire table of girls behind me who were just having their own conversations (nail polish, whatever) and talking while the professor was talking.

I finally just turned around and said, "Look, I don't care if YOU don't want to learn this stuff, but WE are trying to learn it, so do you mind????" They did pipe down, and I'm sure they were shooting daggers into my back for the rest of the hour, but I don't really GAS. I paid almost $700 for the class, lab, and books, and I aim to get my money's worth out of it!

True that!

I pay out of state tuition so I pay 3 times as much as what everyone else pays. So you better believe I will put somebody in check! My A&P class was $1200+

Same here, I'm paying "out of district" rates because it's a community college and I live in the next town over. People that are in-district just about pop their eyes out of their head when they hear how much the class cost me, b/c it cost them next to nothing by comparison!

I figure if they want to get their panties in a bunch over it, more power to them -- I have better things to do with my time and energy than worry about some rude little spoiled kids.

...and you're wondering why you're not doing well????? What could possibly be sooo important that it can't wait until break? Maybe the fascinating conversation went like this:
Girl A: Hey, what r u doing?
Girl B: I'm in chemistry. I hate this class. It's sooooo hard.
Girl A: I'm in such-and-such class. Just got test back. Got a C-.
Girl B: You're doing better than I am! Lol!
Girl A: (hugs)
Girl B: I can't wait until break. The girl next to me keeps giving me dirty looks.
Girl A: Tell me about it. My teacher just glared at me. *****
Girl B: Time for break. Gotta go.

I feel better...just needed to vent a little. I just wish the instructor had better control of the class...is it just me, or is rudeness the norm these days?

i don't need to pay attention the WHOLE class in ordert o get good grades...this is college...not high school...we are all adults so just worry about your learning and as long as it's not disruptive to the class then why should it matter?!?! I text...i surf the internet...if i could jsut show up for clinicals and the exams i would love it! texting and surfing the net are NOT the same as having side conversations. texting and the net are quiet activities where as having other conversations are not... If texting is distracting you then you are too busy worrying about what other people are doing and not enough about what the instructor is doing/saying...

This particular student isn't as fortunate as you. She doesn't pay attention, texts through class and then whines and wonders about why she isn't making good grades. The OP was just venting. I'm sure she's not loosing sleep.

Today the guy sitting behind me kept kicking my desk, so I turned around and asked politely that he stop kicking my desk. He sarcastically replied "sorry" like it was rude of me to ask him to keep his feet of my desk. I cannot stand when someone kicks, or shakes the desk I am sitting in. I would never do that to anyone, it is so very rude.
