To the girl who was texting all through chemistry class....

Published

...and you're wondering why you're not doing well????? What could possibly be sooo important that it can't wait until break? Maybe the fascinating conversation went like this:

Girl A: Hey, what r u doing?

Girl B: I'm in chemistry. I hate this class. It's sooooo hard.

Girl A: I'm in such-and-such class. Just got test back. Got a C-.

Girl B: You're doing better than I am! Lol!

Girl A: (hugs)

Girl B: I can't wait until break. The girl next to me keeps giving me dirty looks.

Girl A: Tell me about it. My teacher just glared at me. *****

Girl B: Time for break. Gotta go.

Girl A: TTYL

I feel better...just needed to vent a little. I just wish the instructor had better control of the class...is it just me, or is rudeness the norm these days?

Oh no offense taken lol I saw that too but thought it was spelled like that on purpose, I thought the person who wrote it wanted to stress the first part of the word when they used it to describe my comments because we had a difference of opinion in the earlier posts...lol I still agree with you especially since I do love teaching.

didnt do it on purpose, just a typo

It happens sometimes, I guess I read too much into it. I really didn't mean to offend you earlier. Enjoy the rest of your day!

As a nurse educator, I realize this is an informal forum, however those of you planning on becoming teachers, please learn how to spell correctly.

Heh. I wasn't going to say anything, but since you went there, comma misuse bothers me much more than spelling errors. I find it even more grating than your/you're and there/their/they're problems. It's a really frequent error on this site- posts AND article headings.

Lol, that's funny but true. I had to get used to not seeing capitalization.

i'm guilty of not capitalizing, but i do usually get my punctuations right

i hate ta du da propr writn thng in schhol, when i am on here i jsst rite lik i ounta! lol Anyway good luck to all even texters

I am not in nursing school yet. I am in a vocational school for medical assisting... and there is a VERY small business office that closes at 5pm. My class is from 6-9pm and well the only way to reach any of us in an emgergency is through our personal cell phones. Heck, even our instructiors have theirs on vibrate.

In my class - ALL are women... 35 women/girls and about 3/4's of them have small children. In fact, one woman just gave birth last week, and wow, she came back to class almost immediately. I think I would definitely have my phone available, (obviously on silent, or vibrate) if there was no other way to reach me ... especially if I had a 'days old' infant at home.

I agree though - we should ALL agree to disagree on this subject. We are all attending different schools. We ALL have different instructors, different students.

It all boils down to this "If the one person in YOUR class bothers you... do something about it. Confront the student, or tell the instructor." That's all there is to it. But lets stop badgering each other here, and judging each other on whether we think the people on this board are good people or not by how they act in class.

:argue::yeah:not judging anyone,i dont know anyone on here. However ringer blaring in class, rings loud is a major distraction. texting is ify, but doesnt bother me. Manners should be practiced allways. I agree phones are handy. But turn ringers off and be polite. If you werent talking directly to me then my appologies. How was your day !! lol

I wasn't talking to anyone in general - but to everyone in general. This is obvious a sore spot for everyone, whether they are defending their reasons, or voicing their frustrations. I am just saying whether you (meaning everyone) do it or don't.... It's not disrupting me because you aren't in my school.

If your bring your phones in the class, I expect them on at least vibrate. I appreciate there there are a lot of working moms (and dads). I myself, at 33 am a mother of a 14 year old boy and I also care for my mother who is dependent on me. I have my own reasons for having my phone on vibrate in class. BUT, as a respecting adult, I make sure I do not disrupt anyone in class if something were to come up.

So like I said.... if it bothers you (meaning everyone) - do something about it.

Just curious are ya doin ok in class.I am thinking of taking gen psych, was wandering if its hard. or eng comp 1

A girl in my micro class spent the whole time either texting or talking. Even after she got done with her test, she was texting, and there were people who weren't done yet. I'm sure her fingers going a mile a minute was just as annoying to them as it was to me! Then there's the people who insist on chewing their gum so loudly you could hear them from outside. These are the reasons I have since opted for online classes!:uhoh3:

The chewing gum loudly drives me absolutely insane:nono:. Who ever thought that was a polite thing to do. I never understood it. I am with you, I love my online classes. No fuss.:lol2:

Not only that, but the ones who smack and pop their gum...oooh, that REALLY annoys me!! :banghead:
