Hi,
To everyone who passed recent nclex-rn, can you please share what helped you best (cd's, printed materials, etc..) ? Where to focus? and how did you study/prepare?
thanks... this will help a lot of us who are scheduled to take the exams soon
I just found out i passed with 75 questions, I did Kaplan then used the http://www.learningext.com/ website which i thought was a great content review. But Kaplan prepaired me for all the prioritizing questions and tips. Which was most of my test. S/S of meds with learning ext was good but still didnt prepair me for the ones i got. Good luck
I used Saunders and Mosby's CD and books and Cards for when i was on the go. I took time out maybe 2-3 hours a day with 2 breaks consistently for about 2 months prior to and I guess it worked because I passed. I think it's all about what type of learner you are and what works best for you. Some people benefit from the face to face instructors while others like independent study. Whatever you choose good luck-

After i read others message about the tips for NCLEX. I am really nervous about it. Even though, I have not start taking nursing class this fall. I guess I could start to read and study for two years to prepared for the NCLEX. I have two more years to graduate with ASN. I have one book and i need to start to review and study NCLEX for two years.
Thanks and God bless;)
I just graduated last month and currently studying. I had originally planned to take the boards next week, but backed out because I felt I wasn't ready. I am overwhelmed with all the materials. I've made flashcards for all lab tests, meds and imp. diseases. I feel that it's not enough. I just finished taking Kaplan. How do you know if you're ready or at least half way ready? Do I need to know every diseases out there? and all the side effects of all meds? I think I'm over studying that I've already had a nervous breakdown. HELP!!!!
Kaplan q bank and question trainer! EXTREMELY similar to the NCLEX! Just read all the rationales and understand why the answer is correct.
I totally agree with jessie1106,
I passed with 75 questions....however I took Kaplan and I truly believe that the q bank and question trainer really prepared me for the type questions that I got on the nclex. With that said...going over content that you learned in school if you feel you have forgotten is also a must. Kaplan has a content book and saunders is also excellent for content.
ps: do a ton of questions....I did around 2500 and reviewed the rationales.
remember to pray, have confidence and remain positive.
all the best to you all!!!
hi all
I am taking nclex on aug 1, and i took complete kaplan course. so far my scores are tariner 1 58%, tainer#2 50%, trainer#3 51%, qbank 58%. I still have four more trainers left. I am very cofused because of my trainer score. Should i wait until i finish my tariner 7 or reschdule nclex?
Good day,
hi there, im from philippines a graduating nursing students, i just like to ask if you can still lend some of your books, that you had used as what you said, from below,..i just copy paste the messages you had posted almost 3 years frn now.i hope you can still share the contents of the book..thanks a lot....im jeane
Hi, I had used Saunders, Lippincott, and the NCLEX 3000 CD. I felt that the books were beneficial because I could take them with me and study if I had a moment or find a comfortable place to review. The CDs were good because I could take practice tests and see what the rationales were immediately after answering the question. I found that method of studyng (paying attention to rationales) to be most helpful. The CD ROM also allowed me to practice what it was like to test on the computer. I felt prepared for the test when I went in, but once I came out I was so unsure of everything (as is the response from most test-takers). There was a class my school offered that reviewed systems and went over test-taking strategies. It lasted the entire last semester and we had to do anywhere between 100-200 questions per week over 14 weeks time in addition to our regular studying. Research shows hat those who practice at least 3000 quetions or so have higher chances of passing the NCLEX. Some people say they underestimated the test, so it may be helpful to over do it with the studying so you go in ready to do your best.My test covered all areas (Peds, Maternity, Geriatric) and all topics (Neuro, Endocrine, etc). I feel like studying insulin and other endocrine issues was beneficial. Also, really focus on questions that deal with prioritizing patients and recognizing what should be done first in emergent situations. Really, you can get any kind of question on any topic, but those were some areas that were helpful in my preparation.
I hope this helps. I can send you the Lippincott book in case you're interested and I think I have the NCLEX 3000 CD here as well...anything to help a fellow nurse. Best wishes. :)
