Same here! I went from averaging about 15 visits a day last week to 30-45 visits a day this whole week...the bad thing is a bunch of them are legitimately ill too (vomiting, fevers, poss strep). The first 30 min of school today I saw 15 kids AND a teacher and sent 5 home (including the teacher). Get me out of here!!

We had a Christmas miracle this morning. I didn't come in til 11 today (night in the ER with my kidney stoned husband) and somehow...some way...the teachers handled all the issues in the class, no one phoned their parents to pick them up, and no one even came down for PRN meds. Hallelujah hallelujah hallelujah. Maybe I should make it a habit to not show up the week before break?

It needs to get here!!! I just had a kid come down carrying a plastic chair because his hand was "stuck" in a hole in the seatback. All I did was align his thumb with the rest of his fingers. tilt sideways and it slid right on out.
Sure happy I did not miss chair removal day in nursing school.........

All my kiddos today just seem to need some extra TLC; Seems to be a lot of kids who've experienced loss or have a terminally ill parent ? I can't imagine being a child having lost a parent or close family member recently and going on through the holidays like everything is fine...
But one more wake-up for a half-day! Happy Break Everyone!

I had a teacher call me (super annoyed) because a student fell and claimed that they couldn't get up because they hurt their knee and needed to see me. I walked in, told him to get up because I'm not dealing with nonsense today. He got up and the teacher proclaimed "it's a Christmas miracle!" ?

Yesssss! 1 more sleep! My students are off the wall today... tons of belly aches, headaches, cough/sneezies. Sympathetic to several who the holidays are difficult for. Teachers are also over it and want every kid with a sniffle to go home. Oy....

I'm sure my "new school nurse" sign is showing, but can someone tell me what sleep means in this instance?

I plainly remember a question on the NCLEX about that.....

It's my fault. I say "there is one school sleep left before break." You can also use "wake-ups", as in "There are six more wake-ups until Christmas!" Or three more wake-ups until Hanukkah!!!

Y'all I guess I'm out of the loop because I just discovered the holiday parties are today and there's a bounce house. That's why I haven't seen anyone ? until now because they're attacking each other in the bounce house.
