Gah! I removed a beetle of some kind from a kid's ear at camp. She and the two friends who came with her to the health center were horrified... and I slept with a blanket over my ears for the remainder of camp.
The craziest thing. I've had several sick student that don't want to go home and then I've had MANY not sick students dying to go home.
I had this one girl come in the morning with a headache 99.0 temp and overall did not look good. I told her to really consider going home. Didn't want to, just wanted to rest. Comes back 3 hours later 100.8 fever. She still didn't want to go home. Uhhh you don't have a choice now.
And then I had a student with a "headache" that just started minutes ago in math class, no fever. Gave her water and 10 minutes rest and she said she felt better to go back to class. She didn't go back, no one could locate her and some how parent showed up 20 mins later to pick her up. Another student with a "stomach ache" smiling and eating candy. ?♀️
Just 1.5 more hours. Just 1.5 more hours. Just 1.5 more hours.
We never had a school, nurse when I was in school. Wouldn't have made any difference for me anyway. My mother made me go to school even if I was sick. i used to have alot of colds as a kid, always runny nose, and sneezing. Never had any comfort meds to take to make me feel better. I remember wiping my,nose on my sleeves. Never any kleenexes. I remember tho, one last time, I was sneezing so much, my grandmother took me to an old doctor, and he gave me a little yellow tablet. I found out it was a chloratremeton, and it worked magic on me. I stopped sneezing and I thought I had a miracle and had been cured. I guess it was just allergies. I still have allergies to this day, but at least now I can get some med and stay home and go to bed if I want to.

until now because they're attacking each other in the bounce house.
I wish we could have the parents of the students be present when the kids are on bouncy houses or not have a bouncy house at school because the staff will send kids down if they bumped their heads or fell but if the parents were present they would say "your okay, shake it off, and go play". It would make it a simpler day for the school nurse. Just saying.
