Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.
Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle
When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)
It has been so fun reading these!! I would love to make a shirt and put all of these comments on there, and when I am having a really bad PMS day, wear it to school for everyone to see. I am sure others find fault with me: too quiet, keeps to self, doesn't socialize, on and on. I try to avoid getting on others nerves and I try to keep my focus on learning. If I am accepted to NS this fall, I hope it is not too dramatic:no::redpinkhe:chuckle
1. Please STOP wasting our time with the instructor by asking her to explain things to you that could have learned if you had READ the book like you were supposed to. There is a difference between asking for clarification on a point or two and expecting the instructor to teach you everything in the chapter.
2. When the instructor is talking - SHUT UP!! If for some reason you MUST speak to the person next to you try whispering - speaking in a "normal" or even LOUD voice in the middle of the lecture so that you can discuss how you set up the dividers in your binder is just plain RUDE.
3. Yes, I read every chapter, outline it, type the outline AND prepare flash cards for various topics. YOU may consider me a nerd or think that is "over kill", but it's what I do to study. GET OVER IT - I'm not forcing you to do it.
4. HIPPA is not a suggestion - it's a LAW - STOP TRYING TO TALK TO ME ABOUT YOUR PATIENT WHEN WE ARE IN THE ELEVATOR...I WILL IGNORE YOU!!!! :argue:
5. After the third time the instructor has gone over how to tape an NG tube in place, you should be able to at least REMEMBER what she has shown you. Try practicing at home...I would really like to learn something new.
Class is NOT a sorority meeting time!! It is rude and childish to place your purse on the desk next to you to save the seat for your friends, esp. when that seat is in the 2nd row! Some people are actually here to learn how to be nurses, and would love to have that 2nd row seat!!
And NOBODY wants to hear about how you slept with so and so's boyfriend and you think it is funny that she doesn't know. Grow up.
You're not going to go very far in nursing (and life!) if you continue to let others do work for you. Stop asking me for answers to our pathophysiology quizzes which are OPEN NOTE/OPEN BOOK, have a 2 HOUR TIME LIMIT and have 2 attempts to get that 10/10...it's really annoying. Especially when you only call or talk to me when you want those answers or "need" something else that will benefit you.
STOP acting like you know everything, because you don't.
The schedule tells you what time class starts....that means you are supposed to be there at that time!!!!! Not whenever you wake up! We all manage to get here on time and so can you!
Oh yeah, when it says no jeans in practice skills lab, that means NO JEANS....I don't understand why people think they don't have to follow rules. Why does the college even bother?
Why is it that the 39 out of 40 students got it but you don't? Are we missing something or is it just you?
Being ****** with your instructor in week 3...probably not a good idea but it will be fun to see how it turns out:)
Please don't tell us..."oh I didn't even study" when you get 5 out of 5 on a pop quiz and the rest of us barely got 3...
Oh and to the previous poster, I save seats with my purse...Sorry! Don't mean anything by it but I do it for my lab partner...it just makes it easier!
I'm only in my 3rd week so I'm sure there will be plenty more to come!!!!!!:heartbeat
"If you showed up to class on time, maybe you'd know what was going on"
"Don't act like you know everything just because you are an EMT/Paramedic (especially when you cannot even draw up an injection properly when SITTING STILL in class!)"
"Really, you DON'T want your waist-length hair down in your face while you are cleaning up Sh*t, so quit whining about needing to wear it up"
"You do not have every medical/nursing problem we have discussed in class"
It is scary - there are really a lot of other students in my class that i would NOT want to be caring for me!
Quit being a Vag! If the patient can do an SVN why do you have to "observe" me give them for 12 hours!
I'm probably not any smarter than you are I just read the material and that's why I am passing.
Sorry I had to "vent" ( pun intended) in respiratory school I had an RT that dumped her whole assignment on me and a 1st rotation student as well. I had no problem keeping things under control but I told the student I'm going to give you a couple of my treatments and I'll check on you while I do the rest of the floor. He responded by saying that he just wants to observe for whole 12 hour day! Now I had no problem keeping up but it would've been cool if he would've helped since my "preceptor" and I were supposed to split the assignment in half.
Well my "preceptor" split the assignment in half and gave me both halves and the student! I am so glad I'm done with school now I just need to find a job so I can get paid to do this!
"Why do you feel the need to brag about how you didn't study and made an A, when only last semester you were throwing such a dramatic sobbing fit because you worked so hard and were barely passing"
"If you are not going to study for a test, dont go out to eat during OUR study group and then show up right when we finish and expect us to teach you the material we have all been studying for the past 3 days when we only have 60 minutes until the test"

Great Thread
1. PLEASE STOP complaining if you waste your time and don't study.
2. Don't tell me our clinical instructor is a monster if your always unprepared, slow, wrong, or a tool.
3. Nursing isn't for everyone, if your wound up like a top all the time in school how the heck are you going to do the job.
4. Sure I'm older and an EMT but don't base my grades on that, I study, show up on time, and work hard.
5. Don't ask everyone thier grade and not tell yours.
6. Don't be mad if I study for 20 min and you study for 3 weeks and I do better. I don't rub that in your face and maybe that material was just easy for me.
7. Just because I tutor underclassmen doesn't mean I am commited to getting you through school when I'm trying to study for the same test.
8.You know I really really want to say STOP if your a cancer in school your going to be a cancer on some other poor nurses unit, save everyone and quit now.
9. Stop telling personal stories, in fact just stop talking
I can go on and on but I am getting bent thinking about it.
