  1. So my app is now under review by the hiring manager....again, don't know if I'll get a call for an interview but I guess what is meant to be will be:) I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again for your insight!!!
  2. Thanks so much guys for taking the time to reply to my post:) Tablefor9...i feel as if you were able to look into my soul...lol. I have actually applied for an OB position at my hospital and my app is under review by the recruiter. Who know's if I'll even get a call but at least I've taken the first step towards making the transition. One thing I do know for certain is....I LOVE ME SOME BABIES:) lol Thanks again guys:heartbeat:heartbeat:heartbeat
  3. I am an RN in a busy ICU unit. I recently applied for an OB position within my hospital. I like my job but I'm not loving it. I have always been interested in OB, L&D, NICU....I'm nervous about the possibility of transitioning only because I don't want to get there and wish I hadn't left my ICU position. I'm hoping some of you OB nurses can tell my why it is you love your job and give me some insight into a day in life of an OB nurse:) Thanks so much:):heartbeat
  4. Congrats ijuanabhappy.....I have been an RN for 8 months now in an ICU and I want a NICU position desperately!!! I've always wanted NICU but it's very hard to get into one. I wish you the best and keep me posted as you live my dream..lol. Oh and keep your fingers crossed that I find my NICU position too:)
  5. Thanks Jessy...I will be diligent:)
  6. Thanks and same to you....I can't believe nobody has posted any response to this thread:(
  7. I am a new nurse who has been working in ICU straight out of school. I have always known I wanted to work with babies and thought getting ICU experience would help me achieve that goal. I have been working on my unit as an RN for approx. 8 months now and would really like to transition into NICU but I am finding all the positions posted want NICU, L&D or postpartum experience. I don't know how to break into that area if no one is willing to give me the experience and I am looking for insight/suggestions PLEASE:) Thanks so much:)
  8. Omg you are too funny! I just got done playing FARKLE on facebook cuz I thought I was going to stroke out from the damn math....lol, I've pretty much got the mcg/kg/min ones down...there are just a few that stump me everytime I see them and I've done em each like 10 times!!!! Once I see an example I'm good but somehow I don't think I'll get to look at an example while I'm taking the test! If you get time can you look at #15 & 16 on the practice test since your sooooo good at explaining and tell me why in 15; 60/30=2 and so 1 mL/2=0.5 and then I go on to figure mcg's per min but in 16;60/20=3....OH NEVERMIND, I think I just answered my own question...LOL
  9. My problem is being able to look at the problem and determining what I need to do first. I've always made story problems harder than they are and that is basically what these are. Once I get the formulas down I'll be good but trying to learn this on my own with no direction is testing my patience (the little that I do have)....your way makes sense but it's different from the way the book shows!!!!!!! Uhggggggg....it's getting easier but its gonna take time...time I DON"T HAVE...lol
  10. I guess I'll have to look at the module better cuz I didn't see set up for the problems and thats exactly what I need!!! Thanks for advice!
  11. I'm trying to figure out how to set us these new equations with mcg, microdrips...etc, are there examples somewhere I'm missing? I see practice problems and answers but that doesn't help me. Can anyone help please???? I have a test on Friday!!!!!
  12. I'm about to start 221 on Thursday of this week and our first Math test is Friday.....some of the math is repetitive from previous semesters and I'm ok with that but this new stuff with microdrip, mcg and trying to figure how much runs per minute is killing me. Are there samples anywhere....all I can find is practice problems with answers but I need to see how you set them up in order for me to be able to figure it out and remember it. If anyone can help me out here I'd greatly appreciate it!!!!! Thanks so much:redbeathe
  13. Yeah I need to get studying the math I've been procrastinating!!!! Yes we will be in orientation together....I can't believe I've went thru the first yr with all these people and yet I don't know one person in my clinical group!!!!! I am in the accelerated program though and I guess our group was rather small compared to the traditional one....
  14. I too am a second yr student at HFCC as of August 27th 2009, lol. Just an FYI to you, the math test is Friday...so you have one more day to prepare then you thought:) I got sec 1 with an instructor I've never heard of. If anyone has anything to pass along I'd greatly appreciate it! I'm sure we'll be fine as long as we don't get cocky and think were above studying and studying and studying...lol! So, enjoy your next 3 days off...lord knows this break flew by for me:)
  15. I guess anything is possible I wouldn't do it!!!!! I'm second year and I see people fail out who are only taking nursing classes, its just not worth it to chance it....good luck with your decision:)
