I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

QuoteIn a statement to NPR, Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign's spokesman, strongly rejected the notion of a physical altercation, adding: "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made.
"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said in the statement.
The Trump campaign declined to make that footage immediately available.
What are the odds that team Trump actually has footage to support their narrative?
QuoteIn a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."
"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."
Once again, Trump appears to be unconcerned with the law and how it might limit his behavior. The fellow is a menace. Will these sort of altercations impact his upcoming sentencing?
Trump got his campaign photos.
Doggone, Trump's team said that they can prove that these people at Arlington National Cemetery are lying about their intentions and actions but they must have misplaced that video evidence.
Meanwhile, the US Army stands behind the ANC staff person who had the misfortune of trying to hold Trump accountable to rules or expectations or precedent in a place of reverence and respect.
Quote"An ANC (Arlington National Cemetery) employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside," the Army statement said. "This incident was unfortunate, and it is also unfortunate that the ANC employee and her professionalism has been unfairly attacked," it added.
That's right, Trump's spokesperson attacked the employee's mental health while he spins, lies and bullies people for the mentally ill bully, fraud, and felon that is the leader of the GOP.

I originally thought it was Corey Lewandowski, since he is a recent hire, and has a history of performing his duties in that manner.
Later it was revealed that the two campaign spokespeople who provided a statement were the same two staffers who "abruptly pushed aside" the female official, and also called her "a despicable individual" (Chris Lacivita)and "suffering a mental health episode". (Steven Cheung)
There will be no video other than what these two goons decide to release because the press followed the rules
QuoteThe press then returned to a holding area and were specifically instructed that reporters and cameras would not accompany Trump and bereaved families to Section 60.
QuoteBut Trump officials said they did not view the campaign's own photographer and videographer as subject to the same restrictions, so they continued on to Section 60.
So they were aware of the rules. They just didn't care. I'm sure this will eventually blow over but it just reinforces to me, this is the culture within their corrupt little world, that rules were made for other people and these guys behaved exactly as Trump would in the same circumstances.
I got those two quotes here from Stars and Stripes site:
How a Trump visit sparked turmoil at America's most sacred cemetery
A former President poses with a thumbs-up in front of a grave of a fallen soldier? Who does that? Somebody who does not understand what this sacrifice means. Few family members in the picture also had thumps up-- surmise at direction of Trump campaign staff taking picture.
All about ME and not WE.

From the above article:
Quote"I just haven't seen anything this disgusting,” said Paul Eaton, a retired Army general and adviser to the liberal group VoteVets whose father's remains are interred at Arlington. "It is completely inappropriate to do any kind of political activity on a federal installation, and it is immoral in my terms to conduct any kind of self-serving activity on a cemetery with the graves of our fallen.”

That s***-eating grin was the same one he used when posing with Uvalde survivors. So disrespectful , so narcissistic. I cannot believe anyone can support him.

Trump looks pretty somber throughout the ceremony and says he was asked by the family members to pose for the picture. Maybe he took their cues from them to smile and be upbeat. A lot of visits to family member graves aren't always filled with somber downbeat moods, and they should be allowed to present as they feel.
That said he used the opportunity to criticize Biden/Harris's withdrawal from Afghanistan and toot his own horn. Also if it was against the rules they should have applied to him without any kind of abusing to staff.
Nothing to see here, just Trump making stuff up again. This is a good one.
Quote"The transgender thing is incredible. Think of it. Your kid goes to school and comes home a few days later with an operation. The school decides what's going to happen with your child,” Trump said in remarks to the conservative group Moms for Liberty.
Even better is the justification his follower is saying:
Quote"Are kids getting surgery in school? No they're not.” But she continued that she was still "thankful to President Trump" for making the claim – since, she said, his remark has drawn attention to the important issue of schools facilitating children's social transitions without parental consent.
Justice said of Trump's claim: "It grabbed your attention, and we're talking about it now, and that makes me very happy.”
Wouldn't it have been better rather than make up a story that grabs your attention, just talk about what you think is "social transitions without parental consent" instead.

Of course it would be better, but Trump really can't help himself. This dishonesty seems to be a fundamental element of his mental illness. As he continues to unravel under the campaign stress and with the PTSD, the symptoms of his mental illness worsen.
More and more reasonable people will find ways to step away from Trump as we rush toward election day. Liz Cheney endorsed Harris today. I expect there will be more.

QuoteTrump owns about 60% of Trump Media & Technology Group, a money-losing social media company that trades under the ticker DJT (the former president's initials). The company has gained a following among Trump's supporters, typically retail investors who have flocked to groups on Truth Social to express concern about the declining share price and blame short sellers for the stock's swoon.
QuoteTrump Media shares sank $1.10, or 6%, to $16.98 on Wednesday, its lowest price since it began trading in March.
But short sellers — investors who bet that a stock will fall by borrowing shares and then buying the stock if it declines, allowing them to lock in the difference — aren't to blame for the slide in the company's market value, according to Ihor Dusaniwsky, managing director of financial data firm S3 Partners. For one, there's very little stock available to short, he noted.
"With today's DJT trading volume at 5.3 million shares, even if every available share to borrow was shorted today it would be less than 8% of today's trading volume," Dusaniwsky told CBS MoneyWatch. "DJT's stock price move over the last couple of weeks was primarily due to long selling and not short selling."
I think the stock trades on Trump's popularity at the moment because the company itself doesn't seem to have any value.
