The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

We also know that gas lighting bullies too often employ the excuse that the thing in question was just a "joke".  Trump models that behavior frequently.

Much of what Trump says and does is inappropriate and some of it is unconstitutional or illegal.  That's why he's an adjudicated rapist, fraud and felon.

"I was all set, before we had the rigged election, to give out a brand new, gorgeous system to one company that was going to do the whole thing,” Trump said, "one of the best companies in the world that you know very well — you know, there are three or four of them that do it. And when they took over, Buttigieg — who has no clue — you know, he drives to work on his bicycle with his, in all fairness, with his husband on the back — which is a nice loving relationship. But he didn't have a clue. This guy didn't have a clue; and he's actually a contender for president, between him and [Jasmine] Crockett. You can have that party.”

To  unpack this, he is still repeating the great lie about the rigged election, pointing fingers at the past administration and then not making a bit of sense about saying Buttigieg drives to work on a bicycle with his husband on the back.

He could have answered the question about the plans he has set forth without making a dig, or perhaps he can lay some blame on the past administration but have it make sense.

Gotcha.  I forgot I posted that pic a few days ago.  I thought you were being crabby against the new Pope for some reason.  My apologies.  LOL

No, I don't think that Trump is capable of answering a question about his plans for the FAA without a dog or blaming others for his issues and problems.  I think the evidence demonstrates that Trump; 1) likely has no specific plan (but people around him like Musk might have some), 2)Trump always blames others for his ideas and actions and failures, and 3) recent interviews and public appearances pretty clearly demonstrate that Trump struggles to make sense on any topic in response to a question as a deteriorating baseline.  .

President Donald Trump is seeing an unexpected surge in support in New Jersey—a state Republicans haven't carried in a presidential election since 1988.

According to the latest Emerson College/PIX11/The Hill poll, conducted between May 11-13 among 1,000 New Jersey registered voters, Trump holds a 47 percent approval rating, while 47 percent also disapprove, and 6 percent are neutral. The poll, like previous Emerson polls, had a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

That is a significant change from July 2020, when an Emerson poll found that the majority of New Jersey voters (56 percent) disapproved of the job Trump was doing as president, whereas 38 percent approved, and 7 percent were neutral.

However, it is a slight drop from Trump's approval rating in a January Emerson poll, which found that he has a 48 percent favorable rating among New Jersey voters, while 46 percent said they have an unfavorable view of Trump.
