The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Of course he's trolling.   Yet, along with his statements about the third presidency is it any wonder that people are including this in their discussion.

If it professional Presidential behavior to behave in such away?  Since you say it's okay to bring up past Presidents and change the subject, remember when it was controversial that Obama wore a tan suit and how unpresidential it was?  Now the President is in your words "trolling again" and it's owning the libs.

No. I don't remember the tan suite.

The main question was whether you think a President trolling is professional or presidential behavior and you didn't answer.  The deflection was a side note not relevant.

The tan suit scandal just had its 10th Anniversary so it's understandable you might not remember.  But Fox News hosts and others mocked Obama for not being Presidential when he wore it.  Granted the "scandal" was a bit outsized, but it also highlights to me how much Trump has changed the narrative of what a Fox News host and others deems as "presidential".

There's even a wiki page about it.  LOL

No. I don't think it is professional for him to troll. I prefer if he didn't so much. Trump will Trump so I just decided to laugh.

Keeps the haters occupied so he can get down to buisness. Shameful? Or strategic? I already know your answer.

Entertaining, though. Like the good ole days of Q and Jewish space lasers. It's getting downright nostalgic - my parents were conservative Catholic John Birchers. I used to listen to this stuff every night at dinner, right before we had to say the rosary. The sermons were epic.

Strategic? Maybe, but on whose behalf? The land grab is already picking up steam. The tariffs provided a terrific set-up for a fire sale. Does anyone remember when trump noted that the 2008 crash was a great time to pick up real estate at bargain prices.

What I wouldn't give to have a look at certain portfolios!

Trump recently spoke about a potential 3rd term.  AG Bondi threw some water on that spark of an idea.

Bondi's take on the controversy carries weight because she is the top law enforcement official in the US and also a Trump loyalist whose devotion to the president is unquestioned. She told Fox News Sunday that in her opinion the president was a "very smart man, and we, I wish we could have him for 20 years as our president".

She then added: "But I think he's going to be finished, probably, after this term. We'd have to look at the constitution, and it would be a heavy lift.”

If the 22nd amendment says that you can't be elected more than twice, could Trump just suspend elections and remain president until he dies? Who would stop him?  If he can say that it was necessary because of lie, lie, lie, doesn't he have immunity from prosecution according to the SCOTUS?

Atp, it's looking like this man can do anything.  I'm just shocked at what's going on.  If this were Obama... ima stop there

I thought maybe it was fake news but this indeed is posted on Trump's Truth Social.

I guess it's a joke.  He has a weird sense of humor.

I think and have heard he has a good sense of humor.

This is inappropriate,  however.

Sure. It's a joke and not evidence of Trump's deteriorating cognitive health and judgement.  Is there evidence that Trump has a sense of humor in the same way that there is evidence that he is mentally ill?
