I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Trump has some pretty ruthless opposition to his presidential aspirations.
This is such a bad look for so many of the Republicans featured in this video.
Well the sad thing is all but four of the voices in that video are all in for Trump now. (John Bolton, Paul Ryan, Adam Kitzinger, Chris Christie)
For example, today's appearanceat the Economic Club of New York
Fmr. President Donald Trump outlines his economic plans at the Economic Club of New York and participated in a Q+A session , rambling disjointed speech . This response is gibberish, with question unanswered.
QuoteQ: What specific legislation will you commit to to make child care affordable?
Trump: Well, I would do that and we're sitting down, you know, I was, somebody, we had Marco Rubio and my daughter, Ivanka... But I think when you talk about the kind of numbers that I'm talking about that because the child care is, child care couldn't, you know, there's something you have to have it in this country, you have to have it... I want to stay with child care... So we'll take care of it. Thank you
If President Biden or Kamala Harris made this response--giant news uproar, but Trump gets a pass. He cannot understand and respond to complex information ---skill needed in a president after listening to his recent speechs and TV interviews.
Trump said he will make his 2017 tax cuts permanent if elected to a second term in November https://www.c-span.org/video/?c5131111/trump-vows-make-2017-tax-cuts-permanent-elected
News!! Trump says he will set up a government efficiency commission task force if elected and that Elon Musk has already agreed to head the commission. https://www.c-span.org/video/?c5131133/trump-elon-musk-agreed-head-government-efficiency-commission\

Please watch to see his decline compared to 4 years ago.

...And tonight, as a Republican speaking before you, I'm putting our country first.
Because the fact is, I do belong here. I know Kamala Harris shares my allegiance to the rule of law, the Constitution, and democracy, and she is dedicated to upholding all three in service to our country. Whatever policies we disagree on pale in comparison with those fundamental matters of principle, of decency, and of fidelity to this nation.
Listen, to my fellow Republicans, if you still pledge allegiance to those principles, I suspect you belong here too. Because democracy knows no party. It's a living, breathing ideal that defines us as a nation. It's the bedrock that separates us from tyranny. And when that foundation is fractured, we must all stand together united to strengthen it.
If you think those principles are worth defending, then I urge you: Make the right choice. Vote. Vote for our bedrock values. And vote for Kamala Harris.
Chris Christie just accepted teaching a course on running for office at Yale Univ. so doubt he will speak out further as also back on This Week ABC political show.

Liz Cheney just schooled Chris Christie on political courage
QuoteLiz Cheney said yesterday ( while speaking at Duke Univ. Karen) that she intends to swallow hard and pull the lever for Kamala Harris in November, making good on her stated belief that Donald Trump is a maniac who has a knife to the throat of our democracy....
...Last month, Christie Whitman endorsed Harris ( former Rep. NJ governor), and more than 200 Republicans who worked for George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, and John McCain signed a letter endorsing Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger endorsed her at the Democratic convention, as did one of Trump's former press secretaries, Stephanie Grisham....

The 4 I listed are the ones who have NOT sold themselves out for crumbs under Trump's table.
It's the rest of the voices who have reversed course and now support him
Trump didn't do well when answering questions. His responses are confused gibberish.
I learned a new term this morning: "sane-washing". It refers to media paraphrasing DJT's gobbledy-gook to sound like actual English.
He answered a question about funding childcare with a word salad about Ivanka, Marco Rubio, and tariffs. The New York Times reported that in a jumbled answer that tariffs will take care of childcare.
Replying to another question, he mixed up fiscal deficit with trade deficit. And claims he's going to erase the deficit, with tariffs.
Those of you on X, should checkout #SaneWashing

It's just the media normalizing Trump's mental illness and cognitive decline while elevating Trump's rhetoric as if it makes sense.
Did you hear his running mate's answer to child care expenses? He thinks that aunts, uncles and grandparents can just step up. These guys are out of touch clowns. They are just weird.

Trump's judgement is terrible and this is another example of why he shouldn't be anywhere near the presidency again.
