The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Records show Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was registered as a Republican voter in Pennsylvania, but federal campaign finance reports also show he gave $15 to a progressive political action committee on Jan. 20, 2021, the day President Joe Biden was sworn in to office.

Judd Legum of Popular Information, an independent newsletter, has found that a 73 yo man with the same name as Crooks, made the $15 donation in 2021. The shooter would have only been 17 yo in 2021 and ineligible to make a political contribution.

Possibly 73 other men also registered as a republican?. Can someone under age register a political party? If they can't vote or donate?

The shooter was 22 years old and a registered Republican. Initial reports said he had made a political contribution to a democrat PAC 2017, but this was a reporting error.

I don't understand what you are asking.

Sorry. I thought you said 73 other men, not older men.

Judge Cannon dismisses classified documents case against Trump  over procedural grounds regarding appointment of  AG Special Counsel.

Expect this to be appealed. Trump must be carrying a lucky rabbits foot in his suit pocket.

Do you disagree that the appointment of Jack Smith was unconstitutional?

Ohhh... this is juicy and unprecedented.

Cannon in her ruling granting a dismissal motion by Trump's attorneys found that Smith's appointment as special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland violated the Constitution's appointments clause, which says "Officers of the United States" must be appointed by the president and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

She also ruled that Smith's use of "permanent indefinite appropriation" — funding for his prosecution office — violated that constitutional clause.

Well, if he had a bad day by getting shot, his day just go better today.  More stuff for the convention.  It's a legal decision by a judge that did a deeper dive and I respect that.

Interesting to see people that cursed justice now praising it.

I love Marjorie Taylor Greene's comment that Democrats "are going to keep going after every single one of us who opposes their agenda.”  How many indictments against her does she have?  Fear monger much?
