The Snow Day Thread!

Published

Woooohooo! No school tomorrow!

And two more snow days for Boston and some areas around it. I am in the little area that will be getting 20-24" inches with this new storm. This equals 8 snow days thus far. Most public schools hit June 30 on calendar with today's snow day and they are trying to figure out how to make up Tuesday's snow day.

There is no where to put the snow! Boston hit its all time 30 day snow record...in 16 days. Those with the same weather be safe...

WOW! That stinks! I would def not want to be in school until the end of June!

Snow day today and I'm not quite sure why?

Our old Superintendent was very stingy with snow days and came under a lot of criticism, maybe this one trying to avoid that?

We just lost the Friday before Memorial Day off with this one.

Yet another storm to hit this weekend in Boston/MA. 12"+ with blizzard conditions. At least we have February break next week so we don't lose any more school days...

I am getting arms of steel from all the shoveling, so I am trying to focus on that...

Here is my 46 pound dog between snow piles:

Good gravy.

I, uh, saw actual snowflakes yesterday? But we didn't get even an inch of snow here. Still, that was the most we've gotten all winter! (*Dodges the frozen fruit you'll be chucking this way.*)

That's insane!!! :arghh: And more to follow!!

Another day called for cold in Chicagoland. -3 with a windchill of -23.

MY school is closed, my children's district is open, so I get an unexpected day to myself! I went shopping and now I will sit my happy butt down and watch Game of Thrones. Life is good.

We got a day off here in Indiana too. -4 with -25 wind chills at 7am. However, I didn't get a day to myself! Lucky!

I can't imagine what you guys are going through up there. Way down here in the flatlands of south Texas it's sunny and 71 outisde right now.

That sounds lovely!!

I didn't think it was too bad today. I mean, you wouldn't spend too long outside and I didn't go for a jog, but a delay would have been sufficient. But then again, my kids never have to wait for a bus. They are driven either by a babysitter or my dad and I pick them up.

I imagine the backlash from parents in my district will be rough because they sent out a call that YES THERE WILL BE SCHOOL. And then a few hours later only and email that school would be closed. Some families don't have internet so I don't think everyone got that message....

Yeah, backlash is coming! There's going to be some ticked off parents that sent to their kid to school without knowing that they changed their minds and guess what...no school!

Or kids who get themselves on the bus and parents who were already at work and had no child care... Sigh. We'll see what happens tomorrow!

Probably a silly question, but since I'm not a school nurse I have to ask. What happens to those kids? Is there somebody at the school even if it's closed to make sure they are inside and safe until their parents can be contacted?
