Woooohooo! No school tomorrow!
I live in Maine. I have no idea how much snow we actually got because the winds were so bad (my new dog, who came from Georgia, was NOT impressed!). If I had to guess I would say we got about 20 inches. There are bare spots in my back yard with grass showing through, along with 4 foot drifts in other spots. We got 2 days off!!!! I think this storm was more about the hurricane force winds than the actual snow, up here anyways. We are supposed to get another 6-10" tonight into tomorrow, and then there's talk of another big storm coming on Monday.
I live/work in a suburban district in Western NY state so... we NEVER have snow days. Lol it'll be -15 degrees out, 4 feet of snow and here we are. Im exaggerating, but seriously, its tough to get a snow day! Usually it'll be because of extreme cold, lots of snow falling FAST (if its already snowed several feet and is mostly over, a lot of times we still have school because they figure the plows have gotten to it), and ice storms that they'll actually give a snowday!
We only get snow a few times a winter if lucky and it's usually only an inch or two so when we do get anything over 3 inches schools will close for a couple days at least. Well my brother moves to New York and woke up to 6 in of snow and was like WooHoo-snow day for everyone and surely they didn't expect him to go to work but nothing was closed. Schools, businesses, etc all open as usual! So yeah New York prepared and equipped to deal with it! This year any snow days we get we have to make up so no free days off anymore.
