Termination From Employer For Refusing EUV

I am an Oncology nurse working for a hospital for more than 13 years. I live in California and there is now a mandate in place that is requiring me to be vaccinated before Sept. 30th or I will be terminated from my job. Not only do I not feel comfortable to receive a EUV that no long term studies have been documented because it is too new and not FDA approved but I have also witnessed friends as well as patients having severe side effects after receiving vaccination.

I am unclear how an employer has the LEGAL RIGHT to ask me personal questions about my religious beliefs or medical information (vaccination status), where are my HIPAA Rights. Employer vaccine mandates are subject to religious accommodation under the Title VII of the Civil rights act. For personal reasons I will be submitting for religious exemption to hopefully prevent me from losing my job.

I'm not sure what the outcome will be but I am planning to seek employment elsewhere in case I do lose my job and likely it won't be in healthcare. I don't know if this will be the end of my nursing career and if it is I feel extremely sad about that.

What happened to the phrase " my body my choice " ?

I will not be forced to do anything to my body that I do not choose.

Through scripture we know that God values our bodies. Our bodies are said to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to take care of and honor God's temple. God's words lead use to use our bodies and the gifts He has given us to achieve the will of God.

I absolutely loveeeeee this post! I get everyone's view on it but I feel like the "attacking" is unnecessary PERIOD!! It's called human rights PERIOD!!

Well, there's no vaccine against people who are violent or lessen the violent tendency. In my country, I'm afraid of nurses and doctors. I hardly heard people getting assaulted in ER. They do get hit sometimes but not as prevalent in the US or other western world. Do they get paid very poorly?  Yes.

He stated the PCR cannot be used as a diagnostic tool. Really, at this point your question reveals your own lack of logical reasoning ability. As a nurse I would expect better.

Lots of people stating that Kary Mullis stated that PCR cannot be used to diagnose covid so not sure what you are talking about.

"As a nurse I would expect better." - Do you mean me as a nurse or you as a nurse? Because from where I am sitting and reading the misinformation you are writing I don't believe for one second you are a nurse let alone anything to do with medicine.

Just my own personal perspective, as a vaccinated healthcare provider I would be horrified if I gave Covid to one of my patients. If you don't want to get vaccinated and you're the average person going about your daily life, I can stay 6 feet away from you and never make close contact. If you're a nurse taking care of immunocompromised cancer patients who don't have that option, why wouldn't you just simply want to do whatever you can to protect them? Am I totally naive about this? I really don't understand how you can be so close to such vulnerable people and not even care that much.

"...and the unvaccinated are still far more likely to end up in the hospital or die." That's from your reference.

How did you miss this information?

You're nothing but another ignorant antivaxxer and your employer is within their legal right to require it and fire you if you don't. I know. I've done the research. The last place an antivaxxer nurse should be working is an oncology unit. No vax? Great. Find another profession where it's less likely you'll kill someone.

Let's take Olivia Guidry for example. RN, BSN. Yeah, let's think about what the middle letter in BSN stands for. She was 23, just got her license, and decided it was OK to shoot off her antivaxxer mouth and jeopardize the health, safety, and welfare not only of those around her but that of her patients. I was really surprised the Louisiana Board didn't go after her. Guess what. She's dead. Guess from what.

I've decided with the advice of Dr. Zubin Damania, MD, that it's time to shut down the antivaxxers. I will no longer engage with you, listen to you, entertain you, or otherwise placate you by listening... EVER.

What’s reckless? She has a choice to decide if she is at risk for developing serious disease or death.

What's reckless?  Would you come to work with dripping smallpox pustules? What's different when it's a respiratory spread infection?

All in all, they are well within their rights to fire you. God has nothing to do with it. You have retained the right not to receive the shot. Find another job. Bottom line.

I am really sorry that you are receiving such snarky judgemental comments here when you were simply looking for support. Unfortunately, nurses aren't very good at supporting one another... "We eat our young".  We are going through the same thing here in CT, and we have been able to support each other through private facebook groups, private websites, and group chats. I would try to look there for support. You can PM me and I will hook you up with one that I know is nation-wide.

The truth is, the majority of people in our country are following main stream media, and are not seeing the other side to this story.  I would like to think that if only these nurses knew the truth, they wouldn't be so quick to judge. It's unfortunate that they don't put more effort into seeking the truth, being the medical professionals that they are. They are willing to blindly follow the narrative without asking questions and using their critical thinking skills. Regardless, this self righteous attitude has got to stop... We are just breeding such division and hatred amongst ourselves.

Good luck with your journey. Remember, only you can decide what is right for you. Don't let anyone else coerce you into doing something you don't feel right about, even if it means losing your job. You only have one body and it is yours alone to decide what is best.

I bet you know "the truth" and the experts don't, right? You got that truth from who and where?

Who is breeding division and hatred? Most of us are just trying to get folks like you to stop publishing crap that increases vaccine hesitancy and spread of disease.
