Heyy.... I'm back again! I miss you guys! I hope things are okay... I'm happy at my job, 6 schools is alright to handle... currently doing classes for Nursing School.
Vent time!
I'm back from Thanksgiving break... guess what? In my first school of the week, we have 9 POSITIVE CASES! They are calling us and are like "We visited family during the break and now we are positive!" and it's like... duh? So yeah... not the only school sadly.
Just waiting for things to go down and close down the schools because... cheese on crackers... what the hell? So today we are just filling out contact tracing forms and sending it to the Ones Above Us and they can deal with this poop show. We also are losing CAs this semester, like new people are just leaving after their first day. We are hoping for new 10 CAs, but nothing yet.
Besides that... I been fine, just busy at work and at home with my new puppy.
Here's hoping we can survive another 3 weeks. 3 weeks until Christmas Break!
How's things in your states?

Hey! It is so good to hear from you! Glad you are surviving this craziness well. It is crazy here too. My days are never the same from one to the next. It was pretty quiet from calls from the Health Department over Thanksgiving Break. So, I was kind of surprised about that.
Hang in there- So glad you are taking nursing classes. How are those going?
Happy Monday-

I'm barely doing my pre reqs but that's the plan. Hopefully get some of these done before next year so I can get into the programs near me.
They are going well! Getting good grades, just having a hard time with math but I'll get there!
You got calls from the Health Department? Any changes with the protocol? We had to change ours because our Call Center was getting swamped with so many cases, we are only sending them forms for actual positive cases now and not negative.

I checked my work email this morning and surprise, surprise; I have teachers and staff emailing me "hiiii I was exposed to Covid/tested positive over Thanksgiving after a get-together." ?

Wow! Things are crazy here. Too many families traveled and gathered for Thanksgiving, and our admin spent the morning sending kids home because we have to follow a strict travel mandate. Unfortunately, I have now tested positive despite taking all precautions. I'm on day 5 and, thankfully, have very mild symptoms. Stay safe everyone!

Oh no! I'm hoping mild is where you stay and ::hugs:: @BrisketRN
I launched my weekly surveillance testing program last Tuesday for staff and had an asymptomatic positive ping back at me the night before Thanksgiving, so contract tracing that evening was fun.
And yesterday, much like you all, had a few staff be told they are a close contact after someone they had Thanksgiving with tested positive so into quarantine they went.
Did do surveillance testing again on site yesterday for all staff and students (myself included) that will be starting in person on Wednesday (very small group of high needs students). Luckily the partnership we are working with has a quick turnaround and I'll get all the results today - fingers crossed!

We are still on virtual; have been all semester. The private schools (which have been open) were closed down 2 weeks ago, but a judge ruled it unconstitutional so they are back open. Don't know how they are faring with covid. Read an interesting article by an MD from Stanford; he discussed the Barrington Declaration, which is a document stated prevention needs to be more focused towards the vulnerable population: the elderly, immunocompromised, those with pre existing conditions. And everyone else should live their lives, wearing masks and following good hygiene. Don't know what I think...how do you protect the vulnerable?

We are deliberately and definitively NOT virtual. And the over/under for us having to close (I base this on how many nurses were in "the COVID room yesterday upon return)...is probably next Wednesday. I'll let you know.

That stinks! Speedy recovery!! Is your school open? Did they have to scramble to get you a sub?
We just came back to in-person after a 2 week virtual hiatus. Of course, because I didn't have many new cases or concerns reported, the powers that be thought everything was hunky-dory to re-open. So when th deluge of students reporting symptoms happened this am along with the surge of people opting their children into virtual, I began a mental "pool" of how long this will last. I say a week and a half
