I think I'm done answering student nurse help me threads here.
I've gotten rude answers, or they never even bother coming back to the thread to acknowledge the answers they received.
Some will ask life choice questions like "Where should I move?" or "Where should I apply?". Do they think someone is going to offer them a job here, is that why they start these threads? You have the whole internet to research towns, cities, regions, but instead you post a thread asking a bunch of strangers where you should move?
Some help me threads seem to be 'Help me do my homework' threads.
Thank you for reading.
Better late than never, I say.Yes, but unfortunately, her original name is forever visible in the all the posts that quoted her while she was still using that name... at least the picture is gone.
The internet can be a good way to learn what people REALLY think of the way you present yourself, if you let it. Folks are more unfiltered here.
So, these youngsters (and oldsters too) can come here, see how people here respond to their impetuous ways, and then modify their self-presentation to take into the real world. It the real world fewer people will give you the uncensored feedback that you can get here.
Although I consider myself to be a still soft and squishy approaching old bat, I am just entering the nursing field. I have found myself shocked at the repetitiveness of new threads and in awe of the patience and kindness of the experienced "old bats" responses. Through searching through older posts I have learned how to study, and how to dissect those pesky NCLEX questions and be extremely successful in nursing school.
I am an avid "people watcher" in my real life and the interactions on AN have only added to personal library of people experience. To all the experienced and novice nurses alike, THANK YOU! By sharing your honest insights and experiences I interact well with nurses on the floor, my instructors, and my fellow students. It is threads like these that get me excited to finish school in 11 short weeks. I, for one, am an appreciative student who has quietly sat by and absorbed your many teachings and admonitions. Keep sharing, keep teaching, and thank you.

If someone wants to hang it all out there and is silly enough to do it, go for it. It's a survival of the fittest thing. I keep waiting for the day I spot one of my coworkers.

I think that names and pictures shouldn't be used for THIS reason, not to protect people too thick-headed to protect themselves.
That's true. I hadn't thought about it that way. I also figure we might have to protect people from themselves, but I'm just feeling especially cynical right now. I think it's the dreary weather.
There are a couple of threads on the front page I just want to reply "NO" too right now. Bonus points to anyone who spots them.
Here I leave the country to do COBby stuff like volunteering, and since there were no thankless newbies to munch on, I'm hungry.
What do I find waiting when I come back? This thread which I have now read from to start to finish in one sitting (okay, I did get up to let the dogs out once). Took a while to figure out the schizoid postings, there WAS a name change!!
Baby bats are called "pups", but if we called a newbie bat a pup, we would once again be proving the adage of biter nurses, being old out of touch meanies and politically incorrect to boot (referring to female pups of course).
Taking my barnacled, iron panted bippy back into the cave now.

Sneaky little system, that! I thought it was a banner, but it was a hidden drop-down (drop-up?) menu. Anyway, thank you....I fixed it!
