My fears, before starting nursing school;
1.Difficulty in passing theory, labs, clinicals
2.Having mean instructor who will try to fail me.
3. Failling nursing school and looking stupid at front of all the people I know.
4. Unexpected dramas that might lead to me leaving the nursing school
(such as disease etc..._)
5. Unsuffiecient funds...money related problems.
This is my list, Im sure if I thought about it hard I would find more...
the person will be grateful (hopefully) that you are helping him/her do what s/he is unable to do him/herself....the first time I gave a bed bath, it was weird (he was 90 something, died a few days later, poor man) ...I was conversing with the patient and he was making me laugh...I was also glad to help his 80 something year old wife because she had just had surgey.
Is there anyone else scared of having to take of people in such a personal way? Such as bed baths and things like that. My friend, who took a CNA course, said that you have to touch every part of their body while giving a bed bath. I don't know why....but that freaks me out. I'm sure I will get used to it, but the first time will be hard.

yeah, all these, especially the money thing!!
i just got my orientation info and book list for the first semester. 18 books for 4 classes. is that crazy or what??!!! that is for 1 semester!
we also got our tentative schedule: 3 days a week are classes/labs that start at 8:30 and end at 5:00. 2 days a week are clinicals which start at 5:30 and end at 5:30. i don't even wake up till 7:00 as it is!! oh well, at least i am in the program!! that is what matters the most! i know that if it is gos'd will, i will do just fine and he will see us through the money thing!!
That I'll get my letter in the mail, show up for orientation and they'll give me a blank look and announce "We must have sent that to you by mistake!"
Me too!
I have this feeling that I "pulled one over" on them and that I am really not half as qualified as they think or as the other students, and that I will fail miserably once I get there.
I know this is crazy-I get good grades etc, but I do have to study for it and I am afraid I won't have enought time in the day, since I can be pretty lazy sometimes....And...and... :uhoh21:
me too, me too!!! i have so many of the same fears as the rest of you. i have not been in a school setting in such a lllooooooonnngg time that i am afraid of the motivation to study is one of my primary fears. i can relate to so many of the previous posts!! it's like what if this happens & what if that happens etc, etc. :chair: :sofahider
Ok I'll admit it, failing is my number one fear, i've failed before, ive failed really really bad at school before, its a horrible feeling, and it rips you apart. I am terrified of going down that road again. Not to mention that I have no choice in the matter when it comes to keeping a job while in the nursing program, so Im afraid of never having enough time to study, or being way too tired after work too look at my books. I keep thinking that no matter how hard I do study it will never be enough, I'll never understand any of the questions on my test and I'll fail every test I get.
I'm very afraid that I won't understand anything I'm being taught, and will be out on my butt from the program before the first semester is over.
There I said it...
