Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

My fears, before starting nursing school;

1.Difficulty in passing theory, labs, clinicals

2.Having mean instructor who will try to fail me.

3. Failling nursing school and looking stupid at front of all the people I know.

4. Unexpected dramas that might lead to me leaving the nursing school

(such as disease etc..._)

5. Unsuffiecient funds...money related problems.

This is my list, Im sure if I thought about it hard I would find more...

Sounds like this list could apply equally to anyone in any major. People have many apprehensions about school. People worry about passing their classes, about the perception of "looking stupid" (this is why most people don't raise their hands in class that much, about money for school, and all the other things you mentioned. These worries you have are completely normal and affect many, many people in school. The fact that you identified these worries means you are thinking about them, and you can find ways to overcome your worries and feel more secure. Remember, these feelings are completely normal for pretty much everyone. Try and find ways to overcome your worries if they are bothering you too much, such as relaxation techniques, yoga, walking, or other things like this may help you clear your mind. Good luck with everything.

I'm afraid after everything I'm going through to become a nurse, that I'll hate it! I'm also afraid that I just won't be good at it - I'm smart but as much as I hate to say it, I tend to be an airhead sometimes - scatterbrained. Not a good quality in a nurse. I will need to be really organized. But I am really good with people, that's the reason I think I will be good at it.

and on top of all that finding adequate and reliable childcare since the clinicals are at odd hours :uhoh3:

Agree 100% to all the mentioned fears ---- wake up in the night sometimes with that fear.

I dont think I would worry too much about having instructors that will try to fail you. They have to know that too much of that looks bad for the program. If you are giving it all you have to give, then I am sure you will pass.

I am glad to know that the instructors at our school take a lot of pride in knowing the pass rate is extremely high as far as the NCLEX in the program at our school. They have already made it perfectly clear, that if passing means as much to us as it does to them, we will pass. It has not been an easy week by any means, and we have two exams next Monday, but the way they cover things and take time to answer questions means they have interest in us.

I made a 100 on both quizzes this last week, so I am very encouraged. I know the stress will get better after we work out the best way to study and retain it all because the reading material is unbelievable. I have been physically, emotionally, and mentally exhausted at night. One good thing, my appetite has decreased sooooo much, lol. I dont think about eating. Maybe I will LOSE some weight from it all. I have lost 3 pounds since Monday. Now, if I can just find time to get my walking started again.

It is very different from the pre-requisites!!!!!

My fears are HUGE!!

1) I really fear I'm not smart enough. I know I am and I know I can do it but sometimes I doubt myself. Normal I'm sure.

2)My other fear is being able to juggle it all with my kids. I have a 9 yr old, 3 yr old, and one on the way.

3) Money is a big issue for me too. I dont know how I can come up with daycare costs if I end up needing daycare. Hopefully finacial aid.

Its just fearing the unknown and I am sure it will all work out but right now I'm terrified!!

My fears about nursing school:1) That I will not make the grades necessary to get into the program I want;2) MONEY! I have a family I have to help support. Right now I work but I know once I start the nursing program I'll have to cut back the hours;3) If I can survive my crazy schedule;4) Failing and looking stupid in front of my family (my BIGGEST critics).I have faith that everything will work out just the way it should.

SOunds like we all have the same basic fears. My biggest is about failing - my family keeps telling me I won't fail, I'll do great - but that just increases the pressure. Because I have a 4.0 gpa for the pre-req's, they all assume I will keep a 4.0 for the nursing classes. I know they are trying to be supportive - and I keep telling them that the nursing classes will be harder - oh well, I guess it is better to have a suportive family than not have one.

Me too! I'm book smart (when i apply myself), but I'm so "vacant" in real life, lol.

I'm afraid that I won't have the money for nursing school. I'm afraid I won't be able to motivate myself to work hard.

I'm not worried about passing nursing school- I know I will pass. I am a little worried about the nclex though.

I am also worried that I will leave a job I love and get a job in nursing and not like the people I work with. I know I will do fine with the nursing- bu I will not deal with petty crap from co workers and I don't want to work with people I don't like or respect and I'v met some nurses that I know I would NOT work well with. I don't do gossip or all that BS and from what I'v heard a lot of it goes around. I don't want to work in a profession that is a popularity kiss ass contest. So I'm worried about that.

But my greatest fear is that I may mess up and hurt someone. #1 fear hurting someone.

my greatest and only fear is that i may not like nursing. i am changing careers and would be deeply disappointed that i've spent so much time getting a second bs in something that i don't like.
