Let me sell you a secret LOL how to be more succesful in your second time around. Take it from the "elderly: (the 'almost'(one more test) survivor of the first semester). It took me a while to understand a meaning that one of my instructor was stressing at times, she used to sometimes advice us during lecture that we need to think like a nurses.Dont read the material just for the sake of taking test, learn to love the material you reading LOL(harder said than done) But just remeber that the day you a part of the nursing program you are NURSE, yeah that is what our teacher stressed as well to us frightened, humble students.Be proud because you are nurse, so start thinking like a nurse, think of yourself as the promotor of health or even a inspection agent LOL,. Read the book as if you were doing your job.Think about nursing interventions, like what would you do to help the patient and use your common sense because those interventions do reapeat in different diagnosis, learn the defining characeristics of the diagnoses, focus on central/general ideas. MOST importantly change your thinking, seriously I dont know how anyone can surive nursing school without at least some interest in the material, so like I mentioned before dont be ashamed to think of yourself as a nurse and things will come easier for you. I dont agree that Nursing school itself is a primary cause of divorce.If the marriage is based on solid and strong foundations nursing school wont break one's marriage, the problems had to exist before arleady and nursing school is just an excuse to end it.None of my happily married classmates are at the point that they are considering the idea of divorce although their wives or husband do complain about them being always busy with school work.

Yes I find your post very prejudical do to the term "germy" you used when desribing a doctor.We do not live in dark ages anymore, most of the healthcare providers use standart precautions and I would think nurses would be moe germ infected then doctors because they are the ones who provide majority of the patient care. People are people. Really we shouldnt trust any stranger (either construction worker or rocket scientist) when forming a new relationships, proffesion should not be taken into consideration when picking a life partner or a husband. The only thing that matters is chemistry and shared morals. Just quick example to show you that yes doctors can be a perfect husband material. One of those examples is my grandfather who was a very decent husband to my grandma. On his dying bed he confessed to my grandma that he never cheated on my grandma and he is not afraid of death because he lead a very righteous life. He died of Hepatitis B,how he got it it is still uknown, there are two suspicions either he was infected through blood transfussion or by one of his patients, and I quarantee you that it wasnt because of indecent behavior and such. It kind of bothers me the way you talk about the doctors, maybe some are germy but they are saving lives and they deserve the respect because one day they might "save" you or save someone you care about. Anyway, with all this nurse to patient ratio that I keep hearing about who has a time to do flirting on the job?

I'm sorry for your condition, I had a grandfather who was Hepatits B condition and it is not as scary as some people make it to be. I commend you for trying to help others with having a such condition,I believe if I'm not mistaken this disease is like TB just not so directly transmissible but it becomes symptomic at the latest stages of your life and person usually dont develop any symptoms throughout majority of their life so they hava a good health, having this disease at least you wont be discrimitive of others with this condition and most likely you will develop like compassion to patients with similar conditions because of you been there, done that You have a valuable experience to bring to the world of nursing. I find it hard to believe you cant afford an apartment and pay your car note.... on LPN salary I think you overexagerating.

I dont think at this point school is looking out for our interest by requiring us to have the Hepatits B test done. If that was the case, they would 'only" offer as a Hepatis B shots, that alone would be enough to protect us from the disease. I dont find any correlation between school requiring us to have Hepatitis B done and looking out for our interest. I believe we have all those tests done not for own protection but for the patient protection, like TB test and others, while I agree that some vacinnations for easily transimittable disease are for our own protections, but it works the both ways...for the patient's sake and our sakes. OFF TOPIC:/ Even thought HIV testing might sound like some form of discrimination it is taken under consideration in many aspects of life. For example when I was about to enter US I had to get HIV test before they would let me transpass. Now I'm very convinced that if I had had a positive results I would not be able to come to this country, some me find this unethical but it is legal to ask for your HIV status in cases like this. Now dont get me wrong I have nothing against HIV people but I would rather know if the nurse who takes care of me have HIV so I would take special precussions, just I'm sure you would want to know that your patient has HIV to take special precautions, just like I would like for a nurse who have TB to wear mask when takes care of me or at least be on medications, I hope that makes sense.

I agree with your opinion.A lot nursing students are mean and as a result there are many mean nurses in the health facilities. The nicest people I would say are veterinarians, veterinarians techs, literature majors, English and history majors as well as Social workers and psychologists.I think in general people artistically talented are more laid back then concrete nursing students.

Nursing is my second degree, but I filed a reinsteitment for tuition at my school and after a long wait the skies blessed me and they approved it. So i will get some pell grants and I'm applying for the Stanford loans so I wont acquire any interest while I'm working on my degree.

Then let me ask you this question, since you think its illegal and uncessary for the school or employers to ask about one's HIV test, than how come majority school have a legal right to ask about Hepatitis B, both of the disease are contagious only via blood or fluids (please dont try to say that Hepatis B is contagious through touch or using the same plates, towels blalbla, I had my grandfather having this disease and living with bunch of family for many years and no one has it) that what is the whole exctiment over the importance of getting Hepatitis B test done before entering nursing school? This is in a way very hipocritical in my opinion to ask for one but not the other...but maybe just maybe I should sue my school for having the audicity to ask of me to be tested for Hepatitis B, indeed I need the money for my tuition.

My school is very liberal about health tests required for admission to nursing school. I didnt had to take drug test. I didnt had to take HIV test. For all they know I could be a pot smoker or HIV carrrier and my school wouldnt even care to find out! Its strange how they set their health standarts, well more saved money for me;)

I'm doing ADN, wish I could do BSN but at this particular time in my life I'm pursuing what works for me the best!

Definitely both, I like binders and traditional notebooks, I just can't imagine writing down my notes on loose leaf paper so for writing notes I use regular 5-subjects notebook, I just remove the subject dividers so I can have a thick notebook for one class, and not use 5 seperate notebooks for one class, but yeah definitely notebook fan.
