"I think that as a result of our time together, Senator Clinton has a better understanding of the energy and hard work it takes to care for patients for 12 hours and then come home to raise a family," Estrada said in a statement. "I'd welcome her back on the job any time."

It was only a day, but it's a step in the right direction.
Nothing is going to be enough until this country wakes up.
We should all be thinking for ourselves and not letting any liberal or conservative news media make up our minds for us about any issue.
I would hope ;that as nurses the health care crisis in this country is something that we all take very personally,( as professionals and as consumers). Who, better than nurses see what health care is doing on a daily basis to our patients. Health care is not a right it is a privelage that this country has taken advantage of. Even though we are brainwashed into thinking that the US is the best in everything we are way behind many countries on isssues of infant mortality, child-care, and believe it or not, hunger.
Yes we do have alot of problems that can and should be fixed but as long as we keep electing the same people that keep spending all our hard earned taxes on overseas issues our own problems will still be there waiting to be fixed by our grandchildren if they are that lucky. there are some overseas issues we must spend money on but it makes me ill if I actually look at the amounts. Unless Nurses get involved in this issue it will continue to be the same old same old song and dance. dog and pony show come election day.:uhoh21:
I don't know what to say to you all really.
When I was seven years old Margaret Thatcher was elected leader of my country - The United Kingdom. She stayed in power until I was eighteen years old, so I guess I just was brought up with the presumption that women could and did lead.
Take the fact she's a woman out of the equation, folks. And start from there.
Edwards did the same thing, so did Obama. Did I see such a judgemental thread when they did it? No.
ps: in order to get seiu union approval, all candidates are asked to "walk a day" in union workers shoes---this year healthcare is seiu focus.
about seiu - walk a day in my shoes 2008

22 yo son told me he's voting for Hilary as need a women to run this country after past 8 yrs.
Guess my multitasking impressed him while working for me.
Voting for someone simply because that someone is female is not a good idea.
I say this all the time so I know y'all are sick of it but women are not a monolith. We do not all think the same way.
Some of us are conservative. (Think Jeane Kirkpatrick and Margaret Thatcher). Some of us are liberal (Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi).
I agree with take the woman out of the equation and vote for the person who most closely represents your beliefs and values.
Nurses are also NOT a monolith . . .just spend some time on the universal healthcare threads here on allnurses. We do not agree and we all think we are right. How can you get nurses (or women) to band together when we all don't think alike?

Was Margaret Thatcher liberal?
Was Margaret Thatcher liberal?
You are right - I must have been really tired to have made that mistake. I fixed it. Thanks. (Always proof read):trout:

There is nothing wrong with a women being in that office. I am not convinced the right person for the job is Mrs.Clinton. Do give her credit for even trying to walk in a nurse's shoes, even if it was just a photo op. hope that she learned a thing or 2. like the real reason nurses have dirty knees when they get off a shift. She really doesn't know what it is like to be a working mom. she comes home and the chef has everything on the table ready to go or is so busy with a social life that she hardly has time to be a "mom" in the sense that most american familys know it.
we need to get away from the idea that if we don't vote for hillary it is because she is a woman
that if we don't vote for obama it is because he is black
i would vote for either one of these before i would vote for john edwards..i just get a creepy feeling when i watch him on a debate..i guess that is not he way to use your vote but i just don't trust the man but plese note he is white, male and highly educated
