Sen Clinton walks a day in a nurse's shoes

Nurses Activism

"I think that as a result of our time together, Senator Clinton has a better understanding of the energy and hard work it takes to care for patients for 12 hours and then come home to raise a family," Estrada said in a statement. "I'd welcome her back on the job any time."

It was only a day, but it's a step in the right direction.

Whatever!!! She is only doing this for show. She wants nurses' support and for them to jump on the bandwagon for "Hilary Healthcare", aka Socialized Medicine. Don't let her fool you. In 1993, during Bill's presidency, she was making a speech about Socialized Medicine. When a nurse asked what some of us nurses would do if they lost a job due to Socialized Medicine (which is a REAL possibility....), she said, "Find another career, I guess." WOW!! I don't know about the rest of you, but I went to school for 5 years to earn my BSN and am still paying a pretty penny for it, I am not just going to find another career!!! Not to mention with "Hilary Healthcare", our patient's will not benefit from the system. Don't let her fool you, its all about show and what sounds good at the time!!!

I agree that it was a photo op and little more. I think the way to really understand the needs of ordinary Americans is, as someone suggested, to go in disguise and really do the shoveling, the digging, the picking, the groveling, take the full assignment, be forced to stay an extra shift, go home and do a 2nd day's work at the end of the first shift, and then tell how you feel our pain. :angryfire

Vote for Ron Paul. He's the only even semi hope that America has. Get rid of the Federal Reserve, return America to the Constitutional Republic it was meant to be, not a socialist democracy that it has become.

don't get me wrong I am not a HIlary fan. quite the opposite. don't trust her any further than I could throw the weight of our last gastric by pass lap.......that's not very far in fact I'd be suffocated!:uhoh3:

MSNBC had it's own agenda by having reporters on stating Hillary is doing a makeover. It's called inciting the viewers for the sake of ratings. How does anybody really know it's a photo op for her? How could it be genuine and otherwise? If MSNBC told you otherwise??

She answered a question about finding another job after losing one. It was just a common sense answer. It's what we'd all do. Socialized medicine had nothing to do with it.

Guess what folks? USA is way below all industrialized nations for preventative healthcare AND morbidity, mortality, including INFANTS. Look at the World Health Organization data. We've had this untruthful mantra for decades that we're the best.

IF police protection, fire protection, education and even MAIL is federally run, why isn't basic healthcare a right for all? Don't be spooked by the word "socialized." That's just a throwback from McCartney years. Too bad it's still going on and people believe it's the devil. Medicare (except for the atrocious medication "benefit" package passed by Bush and cronies that doesn't let the federal gov't barter for pharmacy fees) has worked well. Instead of 15% of fees going to administration of the private companies, it only uses 3-5%.

How do I know it was a photo op? NBC pitched a clearly staged story to its viewers as an "exclusive." (As Meredith Viera said, "Do voters really buy any of this?") This was set up well in advance. It lasted only two and a half hours, just enough time for the candidate to appear in front of the camera wearing a lab coat and later dishing out dinner at a nurse's home. If it were anything more than a photo op, the event might have involved some actual substance, such as, oh, discussion. Issues. Import. It was all about video. You didn't hear the candidate being asked any tough questions, did you?

I don't object to Hillary Clinton per se. I merely lament that in 2007, this is what a -- or any candidate -- has to do to get elected: Take part in a meaningless dog-and-pony show that's as much about publicity for the candidate as it is for the union staging it.

Personally, I want to know what my candidate stands for, not what he or she looks like on camera.

All the candidates are now being dogged by all the news services, and they in turn, only report on tabloid-style information geared to appeal to the 5th grade level. There might have been plenty of substance in that 2 1/2 hours only the public will not know it. The producers cut it all out. It's "boring" and we're all too "stupid". That's my take on it. News networks and cable TV thinks it's what we want.

If Hillary just wanted the photo op, she would have spent 15 minutes there.

i did not see the broadcast but i know that we are going to be bombarded by this till elction day from all canidiates and both parties

it is going to be long and boring..God let us make the right choice when the time finally comes

Hillary is damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. I think this is exactly what the candidates should be doing, and that is getting to the grassroots level of the populace. Everything she does now is followed by a crew of cameras and security. So what will NOT be a photo op when all actions are scrutinized?

Hillary has always supported nurses. When she first came to New York she did. This is just a continuation of it.

A few weeks ago she was talking about the job that nurses do and they said she didn't do enough. She goes to the hospital and puts nurses in front of the country and it still isn't enough.

There will always be the Hillary lovers and the Hillary haters. I for one happen to like Hillary and hope she wins. She's an extremely intelligent woman and would do a great job as president. So what if it was only two hours and a photo op at least she took the time to follow a nurse around and got to see how really important we nurses are on the health care team. I've yet to see any of the other candidates Democrat or Republican follow a nurse around.

This is a woman who has chosen for professional and personal reasons to remain with a man who has philandered for the entirety of their marriage. While she may be a smart Marxist leaning attorney, she's weak in my view....a REAL WOMAN would have kicked his sorry butt to the curb, taken her daughter and raised her to not look the other way when a man disowns, disrespects, and devalues his wife and child, and then lies about it on national television...yes...we have had some real dooseys in office lately....but woman to woman, I cannot bring myself to support someone who didn't have the backbone to address the worst lie of all, that of a cheating partner....to me it's a basic character flaw in someone who won't honestly face that and act on it....I could see maybe a reconciliation if it happened once, MAYBE.....but Mr. Clinton was chasing anything with a skirt from the get go.....and Hiliary stayed in the marriage because it was an image thing for her....so...anyone who would sell themselves out like that makes me wonder what else she might roll over for .....she wouldn't even set an honest example for her daughter....or her Self....that's troubling....

I also have wondered why, when she was First Lady, a NON ELECTIVE position, a position that does not fall under any branch of the federal government, would have over 90 FBI files in her office on people who were in office at the time...ie opponents of the Clintons....that doesn't bode well....it kind of smacks of Watergate....except no one has ever impeached a First Lady...

Speaking of First Lady....can you imagine Bill decorating the White House for Christmas??? Cigar anyone???

Hillary stayed to ride her dh's coattails. ;)

Even if I agreed with her politically, I agree with you . . .I could not vote for her due to her bad example to her daughter.

I don't agree with her politically so there is no chance I'd vote for her.

Regardless of how many nurses she follows.
