I am curious what everyone's working hours are at their schools. Are you only expected to be in the health office when students are in school? If you are a full time school nurse are you expected to put in a full 40 hours? Or is it more like 30 hours? TIA!
Elementary k-5 - 7:20-3:20 - kids are in school from 7:45-2:55. I am usually at work by 7 and stay till 3:30. Rarely do I need to stay later unless there is a staff meeting, 504 etc. Our admin is great - Fridays we can leave as soon as all kids are gone - usually by 3:10ish.
Our 5th graders attend a Science camp for 2 nights/3 days - I am required to attend. Sounds awful, but it is really not that bad. Amazing how these kids don't need bandaids, ice etc when they are having fun
High school nurse here, hours are from 7:00 am to 2:15 pm (school day starts at 7:20 am and ends at 1:45 pm). We stay later for meetings sometimes, like staff meetings 1 x per month until 3:15 and then 504/IEP meetings after/before school. I am on a teachers contract so I am required to be here when they are, which includes workshop days, open houses and parent/teacher conference days.
My school is 5th-6th, and I am supposed to work 8:10-4:10. I do have to stay for open house and faculty meetings. The kids are in class from 8:55-4:05, but can come in the building at 8:10. I never get off at 4:10, because I am in charge of scanning the barcodes on the IDs of all of the car riders, and we never finish that early.
