They will learn this lesson the hard way eventually. If they do happen to make it through school, they woun't last in the profession. And one day they will be needing some to wipe their "grown stank booty".

is that for real?
well, i guess that person will figure it out pretty quick.
i'm no saint and i'm no snob... not by a loooooong shot, but that language is nothing but ignorant and is not cute or charming.
i wish them well on their journey to grow up and communicate like an adult.

People like that will be brought up short very quickly.
As far as peds, it's not that pleasant when a baby has a blow-out in his diaper and has poop all over his body, hid hair, etc.

I loved pedi because 'accidents' happen in any age group but at least theirs is manageable

I don't worry about her future patients, because as I see it, she won't have any.
Any clinical instructor worth his or her lunch money will recognize someone who needs a kick in her "booty ass" out the door.

Well, the person is probably young if they are talking like that and considering nursing school. So I'm assuming part of the comment is her just trying to sound cool to whoever is reading the post. Plus, if thats her attitude and maturity level she probably wouldn't make it through nursing school.

Sad mindset of one "future nurse". Very sad. Thank God for the ones who have realistic expectations or at least an ability to adapt and adjust.

why, oh why is the first thought after "nurse" for so many people something to do with "bedpans," "poop," "stink"? honestly now. can we all please take many, many more opportunities to explain that it's such a minor part of what primary nursing care is? that we really don't give it a second thought because we have plenty of other things to think about, decide, plan, implement, and evaluate in our work to bring health to people who need us?
the immature poster quoted above is just showing her immaturity and lack of life experience. she thinks it makes her look cool and very experienced but we know it doesn't work because, well, she really sorta isn't.
This is a 21 y.o. female with a child & I would think that she could be more mature about the things she says. I just think it's wrong that some people don't take the time to realize what's expected of them when they hit nursing school. I know she is now doing her pre-reqs for nursing school..
I agree with the above poster, I am not perfect, none of us are. I'm not attempting to shoot down her character, but I was sooooo upset upon seeing this status on Facebook & decided to inform her of what nursing school really is. She just really thought that she could "pick" peds and let that be what she wants to do.
Instead of learning the role of the CNA, she decided to shoot down the whole job. I am a CNA and will be graduating with a BSN this May. I really care about my patients & some have to be cleaned because Lord knows they can't do it themselves. I'm sure that many of them wish they COULD do it themselves. I really hope she gains some perspective...I had a situation at work the other day with some nurses that left a patient soiled because they wanted me to do it, God forbid they were late to the time clock...but that's another story

It's unfortunate that some people approach life with such a narrow focus and behave in such a shallow manner. I sincerely hope she tips her hand and gets called on her insensitivity and immaturity before she treats a patient with this kind of disrespect.
Wowser.
