Ridiculous Reasons to See the Nurse

So, we really need a place to log the ridiculous reasons some kids have to get out of class and come see the nurse. You know, those pressing medical problems like, "my lips hurt." I had that one today.

Earlier this year I had a student come see me because she had a hair on her tongue!!

Somewhere there is a teacher giving these kids a clinic pass for these visits!

What are the crazy reasons to see the nurse at your clinic??

I had a kid tell me he fainted in his sleep while in class bawahhaha😂!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the "my friend felt my head and it was hot". :banghead:

I work in a high school, but I also care for the junior high students when their nurse covers another building in the district. One of the diabetic students in the junior high came to my office for a blood sugar check. My office is one of the few rooms that is air conditioned on this campus, and we had some warm days last week (it's 50 degrees F and rainy right now- bleh!!!). So jr high checks his blood sugar, everything is A-OK. All of the sudden my office fills with kids. All minor stuff, but probably 5 students in my office at once. After 5 minutes of band-aiding/ibuprofen-ing various students, I look over and jr high kid is still sitting there!! I look at him and say "YOU!!! OUT!!!" He gives me a cheeky grin and heads on his way.

Jr high diabetic kid is friends with my son. My son comes home and tells me jr high diabetic kids LOVES my office. I'm thinking he really LOVES my A/C.

I do that too, with my kids' friends: YOU...OUT!!! Are you guys kidding me?? OUT!!!

I think they like when I yell even more than my AC, if that makes sense.

I don't have A/C - the whole school doesn't - but my office is in the basement so it is much, much cooler than the rest of the building. We, too, have seen a few 90+ days already (and yes, also 50 and rainy today as well - go figure!). I often get students after i have dealt with this minor concern say "Can I just sit here for a minute?"

My response, with a grin: "You just did while I was talking to you. Now back to class you go!"

14 year old boy (what is it with them?!) comes in to discuss Game of Thrones while he "fixes" his contact lenses and is furious that I am not caught up this season...

Why aren't you caught up???? Unacceptable. I got up at 5:30 today to finish watching this week's episode.

From the amount of texts and flack I'm getting, particularly about this past weeks' episode, clearly I have to get on it.

14 year old watching Game Of Thrones?

I asked him that. He's a "book firster" and convinced his parents to watch THE SHOW BEFORE THEY KNEW WHAT HIT THEM.

oops sorry caps lock.

I'm one of the few rooms that has AC. Funny how when it's super hot all the kids are "sick" and when they come to my office they say all relaxed "ahhhh it's soooo nice down here, feels soooo good." Yeah, you're just down here for my AC, OUT!!
