PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

Could only take boards a few times per year. Be there, or wait till the next time rolls around.

2 full days of testing 800 (1000?) questions. pencil & scantron.

Then go home and wait for the US mail.

It was longer than 4-6 weeks. More like 10-12 weeks.

No PVT, no early results. When it came, it came.

We could get phone results' in September in 1982. I had an USAF scholarship riding on passing. I was down on my knees in fervent hope when I heard her say 'pass'.

RNtoMSN those were my same thoughts. .i do t have 200 today to give them..let the count down begin????

I tested today... I'm so nervous. I was however very relieved that the pV trick has changed!

Good day!

I took the exam Aug 7, 2014. This afternoon I checked the mail, Aug 25, 2014. I did passed! I'm here in California.

I tried the PV trick 10 mins after exam, got good pop up! Ended 85 easy questions. 3 SATA, 3 drag and drop, 2 pictures, no calculation. A lot of prioritization. Different from previous exam.

Yesterday, Aug 24, 2014, I decided to put my cc info and click submit, i was so nervous with that new update! got a "red" good pop up!

This is my 2nd try. I took the first exam on May 15,2014. Tried to register, directed me to cc page.

I cried the whole night. First exam is really hard for me.

I just want to let you know that PV trick still accurate perhaps of new update.

Goodluck to all!

this is some B.S. are these nclex thieves THAT desperate for money? they cant even give us that simple relief of mind? is it not enough that they suck up our 200 dollars everytime we have to retake a test? now they are butthurt and decide to take the trick away so they can get EXTRA money, forcing people to pay for quick results if they want it early. Pathetic. And ofcourse, knowing my luck this just has to happend right before Im about to take my exam!!! the pop up trick has been working for all these years, why are they just NOW changing it. I really hate these people!
Well...it was an unintended glitch all along. Yes, you need to pay every time you re-take the exam. You need to be tolerant of the BON for they wil be a part of your professional life for the rest of your career.

Let me get my cane.....

In my day we took 5 tests, 4 subjects and test questions for new testing. Each test was 800 points. We were tested over 2 days...8am to 4:30pm. There was over 4,000 people in one room seated every other seat. Each person was looked at individually with their photo ID to be allowed entrance....we started lining up at 06:30.

You left and were not informed results until 8-12 weeks later. You went home and carried out your life while you waited. I do beleive they allwed earlier phone notification after you paid and only after being approved by the BON. Testing was only 2 times a year and you were allowed only one fail. You failed a section twice you had to retake that class back in school.

Patience is a virtue.

I passed!!! New pvt trick works!!

Really? Are you serious? How dare they update their own systems and fix a glitch that was never meant to be there in the first place...

I posted this in another thread, and I apologize for the duplicate post, but some suggested it be posted here. I think people need to consider this...

Some students are actually calling PV and harassing them about fixing their software glitch. Not smart.

Imagine this scenario:

student: 'I'm so ______ with you pieces of ______, you are just doing this to get more money!'

PV: 'Nope.'

student: 'if you don't bring back your glitch, I'm going to write my nursing board'

PV: 'mmmmmmkay, go ahead'

student: 'do it right now! I am testing tomorrow and I want to get my results right away...if it isn't ready, I am going to give the testing center hell and tell everyone there what pieces of ___________ you are!'

PV: 'where are you testing?'

student: 'at _______________ college quad'

PV: 'Thanks. You need to call the BON and arrange an alternate means of testing. If you show up to the test center, you will be refused admission to the test. We will also be notifying your board of nursing about your threats.'

student: 'huh?'

PV: click

Be patient. Be smart. Don't call and harass PV. Is it really worth risking all your schooling, and your reputation, to complain to them about fixing their software? It isn't. Trust me.

If you try this new so-called 'trick' everyone is talking about, you run the risk of being misinformed. The only accurate predictor of pass/fail is issued by your BON.

The PVT is a trick. There's no guarantee of accuracy and has become less accurate (pass & fail) over recent months. At one point the unofficial polls had the theoretical accuracy at ~95% now it's around ~85% or less.

I understand that times have changed and we are all used to more instant results. Some states take 6 weeks post NCLEX to issue a license (you are not an RN until licensed by a state BoN in the US). Other BoN post a license within hours of passing the NCLEX.

Is it frustrating? Is it nerve wracking? Yes.

It's not a ploy for money. You have to pay to retake a licensing exam in every profession if you fail. Quick results are a convenience fee. If you don't want wait for the BoN, pay the $7.95. If you can wait, then save $8. Just like technology allows for instant responses, technology requires updates for debugging, improvements, accuracy, security and speed.

I get the dramatic emotions of "losing" the PVT. You risk losing $200 if the payment goes through...several thought they failed in the past, paid the $200 and within a week or so received their license. They just donated $200 to Pearson as there are no refunds. ( one even lost their credit card appeal disputing the charge).

Take a breath. DO NOT call Pearson Vue to complain. Vent if you need to but change is inevitable.

Hello,

I just took the NCLEX today (for the second time) and finished at 75 questions. However, this time I got a ton of SATAs, 3 or 4 drag-and-drops, and am positive I got my 75th question correct. But I keep getting the Credit Card screen on the Pearson Vue site.

I know it's a little early on in the process, but I'd like to hear from people who took the NCLEX after this PV website "update" that supposedly killed the Pearson Vue Trick a couple of days ago, around August 25, 2014. Who all has found out they actually did pass the NCLEX from their state BON despite getting to the "bad" popup (Credit Card screen) afterwards? I hope this post can alleviate other future nurses' anxiety about this as well (as if nursing school wasn't enough!). I will also update once I get official word from my board of nursing. Thanks!

Everyone now goes to the CC screen, even if you passed. There is now a new way to do the PV trick, however, it might be best to wait for quick results if your state participates.

There are a multitude of threads on this new topic. You might search for them and find them of assistance. Good Luck!

Some people are actually calling PV to complain? Really? Good glory, it's only a couple of days.

Reminds me of some patients when they don't get their sammiches in 30 minutes or less.
