The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.
There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.
Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.
The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE
As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.
I took NLEX Monday morning for DC and am so anxious to get my results. I thought I failed for sure when I tried the pop up trick and it took me straight to credit card page. Does anyone know when DC Board of nursing updates their licenses?
California is horribly slow with everything but they have been updating theirs anywhere from 2-5 days. So I'd say give it another day and then start checking. Check a few times a day too.
I never thought about it that way & it made me feel kinda bad after I read it. I was so caught up that I made an error in judgement that I would not have made otherwise.
Nothing to feel bad about, IMO. What you did isn't NEARLY as immoral as knowingly writing a bad check. Credit cards decline-it just happens. Vendors have transitioned to electronic payment methods so that the availability of funds can be verified before a service or product is ever recieved. No one is going to haul you off to jail, nor will you be penalized by Pearson in anyway should you require their services in the future.
I looked at the FL BON and showed that I PASSED! PRAISE GOD!!
This was the second time I took the exam. This second time around I took the exam on Friday Aug 22 at 8a.
The computer shut off at 75-77 questions, It shut off so quickly, I didn't see where it stopped!
Decided not to do the PVT when I got home. Instead I enjoyed the weekend with my family and church family on the Sabbath. Come Monday morning, with no knowledge of the new pearson website btw, I got so anxious I decided to do the PVT. And of course it led me to the CC page! I was SHOCKED!
But the site was completely different so the PVT had to had changed too, right?! Of course I looked on allnurses and saw that others had the same issue...so I wasn't alone!
Everyone gets the CC page. There is a new trick, but it risks you getting charged $200 for a retake even if you pass so it is not worth the risk. It is also very new so there are no reports on accuracy.
if your state participates in quick results, I would wait for them even though waiting is hard. If they don't participate, you can call them after 48 hours and request a new ATT, if they refuse, then you probably passed.
Maybe if those that call Pearson with their not-so-nice words will break Pearson and they will realize their grave mistake. Maybe they will change it back... Haha
I'm sure if enough people call with this complaint, they will probably get tired of it and have to figure something out...
Or maybe not.
P.S. I'm not condoning calling Pearson and harassing them.

Um a system upgrade to improve site security and performance is not likely to be reversed to re-implement a registration glitch that created the PVT. Calls to Pearson Vue to complain about the upgrade are likely wasted breath.

the Pearson Vue trick did not work for me either. It took me to the credit card page as well! and I just saw the unofficial results from the website saying I passed
