PVT IS DEAD! Don't try the "new" trick

The PVT was never meant to happen. It was not some trick invented to give us results before the 48 hour quick results were ready, it was a computer glitch that allowed us the peace of mind of finding out early if we most likely passed. Therefore it is no surprise that PV found a way to fix it. Those of us who are already licensed got lucky. New testers are not likely to have that sort of luck.

There is a new trick circulating that basically says you can still get the good popup if you try to pay. There is a problem with this, if you put in your credit card information and it allows you to pay, there is NO REFUND if you actually passed. The PVT was never 100% accurate, and false fails were more prominent than false passes. So if you put in your CC and it takes it, there is around a 5% chance that you passed and you just paid 200$ for an inaccurate trick.

Those in states that allow quick results will have to wait 48 hours. It is 48 terrible mind numbing frightening hours, but it's worth it not to pay for a new registration. Those in states not participating in quick results, you should call your BON after 48 hours and try to re-register on the phone. They should stop you if you passed.

The trick was a sanity saver for thousands, and it is sad to see it go, but it was inevitable that it was going to eventually get fixed.

UPDATE

As of October 2016, many people are still reporting that the PVT TRICK still works.

Did you pass??

I just took mine and my status says " Results not available" instead of "delivery successful". and they let me go through credit card.

The 'trick' isn't really a trick, so it doesn't matter what screens you get, your results are not official until you receive them from an official source, like your BON or Pearson Vue notification. Don't sweat it, wait for your official results.

Just updating: I did pass! Started getting the CC screen after the update on Sunday but I did get the good pop up on Saturday. You have to play Russian Roulette with your credit card to do the test and apparently you could still be charged even if you pass. Not worth the $200 risk for me. Since it's during the week, hopefully your wait won't be as long as mine. It was a long 2 days ...

Such a relief!

this is some B.S. are these nclex thieves THAT desperate for money? they cant even give us that simple relief of mind? is it not enough that they suck up our 200 dollars everytime we have to retake a test? now they are butthurt and decide to take the trick away so they can get EXTRA money, forcing people to pay for quick results if they want it early. Pathetic. And ofcourse, knowing my luck this just has to happend right before Im about to take my exam!!! the pop up trick has been working for all these years, why are they just NOW changing it. I really hate these people!

Wow I already have my license and the new PV website took me to the credit card page! That is crazy! I guess the trick really is dead!

The "trick" was probably a glitch all along; now people will have to wait for official results or pay for quick results, sometimes the BON is faster than the quick results.

For anyone needing to take the exam; walk away from the ledge; take the exam, afterwards do something relaxing or celebratory, and FIND something to do while waiting to see if your licensed, even if it means taking up knitting or reading a good non-nursing book. :cheeky:

When I took the NCLEX-RN (paper & pencil), it took 4-6 weeks to get results in the mail.

Yes, it was a while ago...;)

Not to persuade someone to do one thing or another but those 48 hrs felt like days. I wasn't eating, not really sleeping & barely got out of bed. I tested 8/23 & got the good pop up before the PV update after it changed it drove me crazy b/c I thought I was one of the few that got a false positive.:( After agonizing about it for several more hours I picked my prepaid cc & tried to pay (no funds were available) & after I entered the payment information it would not let me pay not b/c of lack of funds it displayed the good pop up again. I will admit this might not work for everyone but I made a gamble & I won.:) Oh & found this morning I have a pass

I am glad you passed! Everyone has the same feelings during the wait for results. It is heartbreaking to wait. However, entering a credit card that you know have no funds is like writing a bad check. It is against the law. If you do fail, PV is going to have it on your record that you did that, not so sure that they will be happy when you do have to re-register

After agonizing about it for several more hours I picked my prepaid cc & tried to pay (no funds were available) & after I entered the payment information it would not let me pay not b/c of lack of funds it displayed the good pop up again.

This is the way I was thinking to bypass their new system. I use a debit card for most of my online purchases and I have my bank account set up with NO overdraft protection. I opted out of this because banks use the term 'overdraft protection' to mean that if you do not have sufficient funds at your time of purchase, your bank will in a way, 'loan' you the funds but then turn around and charge you $15-30 for the overdraft. NOW, unless you specifically opt in for overdraft protection, your bank cannot loan you money and charge you a fee. So if there is less money in my account than I am trying to spend, my bank/my purchase won't allow it and I will not pay (without any fees from my bank).

So if you know your bank account works like this, I would suggest knowingly trying to put in your cc information with knowingly less than $200 in the account. PearsonVue will accept that information up until you confirm the purchase but the new good pop-up seems like it shows itself before the purchase actually goes through unless you DO have available funds.

If this works, it is almost laughable... Nurses are creative and deal with things that change. Why did they think they could stump us?
