If you are a nurse, or a future nurse, is your spouse/significant other in law enforcement?
Just curious to see if this is a legit pattern or if I've just been noticing it more lately.
I am a nurse with a law enforcement spouse.
We joke that cops and firefighters marry nurses and teachers. My BFF is an ortho surgical nurse, married to a FF, a couple we vacation with often---shes a teacher, he's a FF. My DH is an officer. A couple we used to do things with (divorced) shes an RN, he's a LEO. A nearby county sheriffs' office has at least 4 deputies with nurse wives
My boyfriend who I plan on staying with for all of my future is currently an auto technician and going to the police academy (we aren't married and he's not a cop yet so I guess it doesn't completely count). I don't know of any other women at my work dating law enforcement men. A lot of women dating auto mechanics and laborers.
My SO is not a cop, but he works in metal fabrication. He also used to be an EMT.
But- half of my family is in law enforcement. And I've got to say, it's kind of funny because I'm pretty sure my family is supplying all these cops and teachers that are marrying nurses. Too many cops to keep track of, 4 or 5 teachers and three nurses, myself included.
I get it. Men in uniform are sexy but it has been my experience that the stereotype rings true about them. They are often womanizers. I am happily married to a chef now and it's glorious. Working in an ER I interact with many police officers, firefighters, and paramedics. I have had plenty of them "put in their application" knowing that I am married; they don't care. I just brush it off. I'm here to work and even if I wasn't married, I've been told it's never good to mix business and pleasure.
