This week, I have learned..... (8/1)
1. I hate learning new computer charting programs. 2. Credit card companies are pretty fast about canceling cards when wallet is stolen. 3. The day after canceling credit cards, hubby finds his wallet in the trash...it was a very stressful few days for him (due to packing out the house). 4. I am a nervous wreck about starting my new job in Labor and Delivery!!

Poll: Nurse and law enforcement couples
Nope. Hubby is in the military and works in the hospital. He is actually getting ready to retire in 2 1/2 weeks! Whoop-Whoop!!

How long did it take you to land your first job?
I was offered a position about 3 weeks after getting licensed. Good luck!

Any other Military spouse students?
Hi! I am also a military spouse! When I looked into programs, I looked at how long we would be here. This is my second time in a nursing program (1st was a BSN program). I made the decision to do an ADN program here so I can just get my license and start working. I graduate in May! (YAY!!). I also told my wonderful hubby that if I get into the program I was in, and he got orders then I would catch up to him wherever the Air Force wanted to send him. Everything worked out in the end! :)

New vs used books vs renting
Our school rents our books to us and we also had to buy some books. I don't do much highlighting so this works out for me. Although, we do rent one of our pharm books and I wish they would have given us an option to buy it (we have had to rent it for 3 semesters now at $30 a semester=price of new book), but there is nothing I could do about it.

Last Free Weekend
Classes for us start Tuesday, but I plan of cleaning and trying to schedule dental appointments for my girls while DH is on leave for a week. I will also be making a bunch of casseroles and planning dinners in the crockpot for our really busy days. I still plan on attending Friday night football games, Saturday cross-country meets and a few of the band competitions. I am super excited to be going back!! :w00t:

ATTENTION MOMMIES!
Hello, Mommies! I am 35 with 2 girls, 13 and 12. Balancing will be an issue for the first few months of school. My DH is currently deployed and with one of the girls being a freshman in HS, it is about getting her to all her extracurricular activities, spending quality time with the girls and getting studies done. We will see how it works out. I am thankful to have wonderful friends from school, old jobs and in the neighborhood that are very willing to get the girls where they need to if I can't be there. But, I made a promise to myself that when I am with the family, they have 100% of me. The dishes can wait until the morning, the laundry can wait, and the housecleaning can slide a few days. Balance is key. Plus my girls are excited that I have gone back to school. They like to help me study :redbeathe Just glad that hubby will be back before I start clinicals

What are your future nursing plans??
Well, will be starting school in a week!! I would love to be in L&D, Peds, NICU or ER. But honestly I am really not picky. Just to work as a bonafide nurse wherever I can get in is alright with me :) Eventually I want to go into nursing education and teach future nurses! Good luck to all of you!!!
