    GPC FALL 2012

Bearcat, they know that the flu shot is not available yet. So they will allow you to get it when it is available. At least they did for our class.

    GPC FALL 2012

I sent it hope it helps. I could not send the test info for 1930, sorry. @TygasPoohbear, I do not remember anyone coming in late so not sure of the consequences. Maybe you can give your job an advance notice that you may need to leave an hour or two earlier on that day.

Send me your emaill address. You will have a lecture on dosage calculations, the instructor is wonderful and she will make sure you pass the math test. You will also have access to a website called Software for nurses that will really help with that so no worries:)

    GPC FALL 2012

I am not sure of the exact number but it was somewhere between 150-162. After fundamentals I think we had 146 students. I know of three that said it was just to much for them 2 guys and 1 female. I know a couple that were unsuccessful on their third attempt in skills lab, and some that did not have a 75 average, which is required to pass the course. We all followed the same class schedule. Third semester we are split up half of us do OB and other halve Peds. I will go and see if I still have access on my icollege to both courses,if so I will let you know so I can copy it and send it to you. No, I only attended orientation. I have heard mixed reviews, some say they thought boot camp was helpful others beg to differ. No, my life is to busy to be involved. If I was not busy I would join because they seemed to be very involved with different things and it also looks great on resumes:up: Being well prepared is awesome, you will definitely need it for clinicals, lol. NP, I will help anyway I can.

    GPC FALL 2012

Hi guys, Congrats on being accepted into the program!!! It is an awesome program, and the instructors are wonderful and really want you to succeed. I was officially done with my first year of nursing school last month. I would like to offer you guys some encouragement, you have a tough road ahead of you, but if it is something you truly want, then nothing will get in your way, and you will have the initals RN behind your name before you know it:). I made it while caring for five kids(13,11,9,8,1) homeschooling, and a out of town husband. With that being said, know that it is definetly doable. I know you guys are anxious to start... the wait to start was worse than waiting on that big enevelope, lol! But I would suggest that you become organized if you are anything like myself. Have yourself a binder for pharmacology, which will be for your drug sheets that you will complete and use for all the semesters. Also, a binder for lecture, which will have all the powerpoints for lecture and that way you can write your notes on the powerpoints and when you study everything will be in one place(section it by test 1,2,3...etc). My notes were all over the place, until someone showed me how they were taking notes. Also, there is a tutorial lab with awesome resources USE THEM, you have paid for them:) The book issue, I used the sixth edition with no problem, a couple chapter numbers were different. I did not have to use my book much because they had one in the tutorial lab that I used since I tried to do most of my studying at school, but when I did use my book it was fine. These are just suggestions that I think may help, but find what works best for you. Feel free to ask me anything, and get'er done future RN's:nurse:

    Georgia Perimeter College ADN Program??

Hey, watashi In 1921 there are 4 skills you have to learn (V/S,oral meds, SQmeds, and sterile gloves). You watch a video and then you must practice that skill in the skills lab for at least an hour. Lastly you have to check-off in front of an instructor on check-off day, following proper procedures and techniques. You get three times to pass, after the third time you are kicked out of the program. But, like I said earlier there were talks of changing the way skills lab was done.

    Georgia Perimeter College ADN Program??

aimhigh11, I'm not sure if you went to the same school as myself but I have to disagree with you. For skills lab we did have to watch a video to learn the skills lab, but next semester the skills lab is suppose to be way different.

    GPC FALL 2012

They have a pilot program with ipods, so you will be offered one at the beginning of the semester. It was a nice device to have for clinicals, especially the app nursing central.

    Georgia Perimeter College ADN Program??

You do know the virtual me,lol. I am officially done with my first year of nursing school as of today @ 12 PM, YAAAAA!! Ok, back to you, you may ask as many questions as need be because I was just in your place a year ago, and another student helped me. Yes the anticipation of starting the program is brutal, but don't rush enjoy your time because it will become very minimum real soon. Like I stated earlier 1921 is a breeze, but you need to make sure you understand it, because it is the foundation for all the other courses. 1930 kicked my butt I went into the final needing to make an 80 just to pass the class, so with that being said if you are not an organized person like myself work on it, if you do not now how to make study guides from an class outline work on it, because these things well help you achieve an awesome grade in 1921 and 1930:)

    Georgia Perimeter College ADN Program??

Hi Lovleeme, Sorry it took so long to respond. Yes I started last fall. It is an awesome program, the first semester was a breeze for me, but this med-surg is kicking my butt. The teachers really want you succeed, there are so many resources at the school to help you. The negative thing I have to say is that the check-offs build up so much anxiety a couple of people had to go on meds to calm their nerves right before check-offs. But I know there were talks about changing the way check-offs are done this fall. HTH

Oh also there will be a panel of second semester or third semester students that you can ask questions. So have your list of questions ready.

    GPC Spring 2012

Orientation is just getting you familiar with the program. They tell you what to expect, what you can and cannot do. How the grading system works, go over the hand book. It's sort of like a break down of the syllabus, and handbook. But the bootcamp I think went a little more in depth, well from what I hear anyway. HTH, and any other questions you have let me know!!! Good luck future RN's
