Too eaches own. I agree the local community colleges are a lot cheaper. Let's take VCC for example it will take you 2 years for pre-reqs, go on a wait list for the RN program, once your in the program it will take you 2 years and if you get accepted to do the concurrent program at UCF for your BSN that's another 2 years so 6 years in total?? And they only offer the Nursing Program during the day. I don't know about you but I need my job to help provide for my family and with Herzing they offer the program at night which is convenient for some of us. Honestly after FA, scholarships, tuition reimbursement for your BSN with Herzing it's about $50-$60K which puts them in the same bracket as some of these other private colleges within the area. For some it's the "convenience" with the program being offered day or night which works for them. If it doesn't work for you and your one of the fortunate ones able to either work PT, not work at all or work nights then hey more power to you.

Very true, and its nice to have that experience to make sure Nursing is for you or not. For sure you will have some great insight seeing as you volunteer at Nemours and within your current employer.

That's a great experience! Definitely take in everything they are willing to teach as it will come in handy for you come nursing school. It does help to have some medical/clinical experience if at all possible.

I agree with you. I'm an MA as well, I work for a Children's Hospital outpatient. I pick up as a PCT on weekends to have the inpatient exposure and I have learned so much we don't do in the outpatient world.

That's a great start! I wrote notecards to learn the conversions and look into registerednursern.com she has a ton of YouTube videos, along with printable worksheets that you can do at the same time she's doing the conversions/dosage calculations. I know the test banks are NCLEX style questions to get you used to it come testing time. We do get a review book its called Pearson Review and Rationales: Comprehensive Review for NCLEX-RN 2nd Ed by Mary Hogan. I recall them telling us this during Orientation, they referred to it as the "Red Book".

Pharmacology for Nursing $21.97, Brunner and Suddarth Textbook of Medical-Surg Nursing 13th Ed $33.97, Jarvis Physcial Examination and Health Assessment 7th Ed $11.37, Coursepoint for Hinkle Brunner Med-Surg Nursing 13th Ed $26.37 ,Essentials of Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing 2nd Ed $11.37 and Person Review and Rationale-Free. That's what I could make out in the pictures kinda of blurry but its very close

I sure will! They are not that expensive. I seen the books we will need and the max for 1 of the books is $34.00 for the actual book. I'm a visual learner and prefer to have the books at hand.
