POLL: How far in debt will you be???

Published

Here's a question... how far in debt will you be when nursing school is all said and done? How many years are you spending in school? BSN or RN?

I will be $38,000 in debt after two years to earn an RN. This accounts for books and tuition and the loans I have to take to supplement my income and pay my bills while I'm working only part time. Wow, career changes are expensive...

Right now @ 7500, but I still have 2 semesters to go and will probably take the max amount out for another loan. So, it'll be about 12000. However, I do have my eyes on probable employers that pay off loans!!!

I will have about 75000 for a ADN program, but I also changed majors after going for the other for fours. I am also looking and hunting for hospitals that offer loan repayment.

Lucky me I will be $0 in debt after my ADN and I plan to go on to get my BSN, after that still $0 in debt. My hubby has a good job and we are big on saving money so we can afford tuition and all the extras.

About $12,000-ADN, but some of the debt is from a university.

Specializes in Pediatric/Adolescent, Med-Surg.

Just graduated from diploma RN program (private school) $0 in debt, school had a program where you go to school for free if you agree to work for a hospital owned by the school upon graduating. I'm not a fan of debt, so I jumped at the chance to get a quality education for free.

22000 for class and extra needed money....ouch, for 2 years that's a lot.

$0 for my ADN thanks to grants and scholarships.

I love going the cc route. My sister is going to a 4 year university for elementary education and even with grants and scholarships, she has had to take out loans. I told her to take her gen ed classes at the cc, but she didn't want to do that. :banghead: Even though my 2 yr degree is taking 4 yrs, I'll still be in much better shape after graduation. And later I can get my BSN on the hospital's dime.

Specializes in Med Surg.

almost 24 grand for a 16 month associate degree from a private school

im gonna try to ask my mom for help...

or maybe, i'll live at home a lil longer lol:chuckle

Specializes in ER/Ortho.

I will be about 25,000 in debt when I cross the finish line in about 17 months. That includes 3 years of support courses and pre reqs, 3 dmat classes, a few classes that will go toward my BSN, and the full nursing program as well a money to live on so I don't have to work during the nursing program. I also get grants.

I am credit card debt free. This is my only long term debt so it should not be to bad.

Specializes in CDI Supervisor; Formerly NICU.

Just about the same situation as you. My schooling wasn't too terribly expensive, but my lost income had to be replaced with loans.

Like Jules, not a fan of debt. The house is mortgage free and the cars are loan free, so tuition and books at my CC are manageable. Next semester tuition reimbursement will kick in, which will be even better :-)

about 100k. 75k for 2 previous bachelor degrees, plus about 20k for my bsn. how's that??
