quick question re: patho
Thank you all for your replies. It is definitely comforting knowing that I'm not alone in feeling like there is just way too much information to digest during patho class. Hopefully it will all come together once I start my rotations. Best, HBGWAN

quick question re: patho
I'm in an online FNP program. Even the local brick-and-mortar school has most of their didactic courses online. Anyway, the advanced patho course is not impossible, but it is a VERY VERY VERY large amount of information to "learn" in one semester. I was talking to another FNP student at another program. He felt the same way I do - we don't feel like we are learning anything. We feel that yes, we have done ok academically this semester but we don't feel that we can accurately look at a condition and diagnose it. The sheer volume of information has been totally overwhelming. We feel that we might as well not even have taken the course (if that were an option). I don't feel any smarter patho-wise now than I did before. If we had longer to take the course, perhaps we could have managed to retain a thing or two. So my question is this: have any of you gone through the same thing? I surely can't be the only one. Thanks. HBGWAN

Family practice offices
Hi everyone. I'm an FNP student and have been trying to look at the job market. I do searches on Google and come up with sites like Indeed and Simply Hired. But they mainly post corporate-type positions. npworld.us has much of the same thing. My question is where are the family practice jobs posted/advertised? You know, the doctor and NP/PA combined offices. Just curious. Thanks.

Is anyone else freaking out about this patho exam half as much as I am?

Is anyone else going to be working FT while in school? I plan to continue my 3 12's a week 7p-7a. I know it's a lot but I can't afford to quit my job.

Yeah, that's a concern I have - finding preceptors. I'm sure it's doable...otherwise people wouldn't be going through the program. I'm not sure about tuition cost but I think the total tuition for the entire program is around 21k. As for a Mac, I may have to purchase a cheap, crappy PC to have on hand just in case. I would hate to fail out on a technicality (literally!). I emailed the academic advisor (I know we aren't supposed to use people's names on here) about personalized curricula. Awaiting a reply. Soon enough we will be knee deep in it!

i'm watching the videos now. there's one module for AHN 569 - a clinical course. it's talking about all sorts of contracts with preceptors, time sheets, etc. to my understanding, that is not for us first semester students, is it? we aren't doing any clinicals right off the bat, right? that's for next year after we have gone to mobile for the clinical orientation. can anyone shed any light on this? also, has anyone gotten their personalized course schedule? i sure haven't. i emailed the academic advisor... thanks.

Just so we are clear - it's the condensed tracks that have to go to Mobile right now, correct?

Ok I just wanted to make sure. It just said all supporting documentation. I was thinking that surely we wouldn't have to resubmit those docs we submitted to certifiedprofile. Thanks!

Does anyone know what all we need to mail in? It says that the acceptance packet and "all supporting documentation" need to be mailed. But we uploaded everything to certifiedprofile. They don't need copies of shot records, nsg license, etc. again, do they? Hasanyone called about that?
