Okay so I recently left my job at one of the major hospitals in my city for another job. After receiving the job, the job said they could not continue on with the offer due to a pending felony apprehension charge that is PENDING! I'm upset because they waited till the first day of work to say this. I caught the charge right before applying to boards, the Florida board of nurses are aware, so why did this job do this?? INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY RIGHT? *sarcasm* my feelings are really hurt, and bills are piling. I've know been turned down by 3 jobs due to this pending charge. Any suggestions? I have an interview with DAVITA. Do they do background checks? And other job suggestions

Background checks are pretty standard. I'd probably put it all on the table at the time of the interview to avoid wasting my time (or theirs).

What is felony apprehension?
I think you are going to be in for a lot of frustration until you either have the charge dropped or are acquitted of the charge. Most facilities have their pick of candidates-why would they bother hiring someone who may soon lose their freedom, someone who has committed a felony, or someone who may not be able to work on a consistent manner because they are on trial or caught up in the legal system limbo? They are going to go for the unencumbered candidate almost every time.
Maybe you can find more optimism in the nurses with criminal history forum. There are nurses there who have actually been convicted of crimes who have managed to rise above and still carry on in their career. Maybe you will be one of them.

Your feelings are hurt because you are having trouble getting a new job with a pending felony charge?
I think it would be unusual for a HR department to hire you with a felony over your head.
Look at it from their point of view. I understand your frustration, but hurt feelings?

If bills are piling up, I would recommend getting a non-healthcare job to at least bring in some income until this gets squared away.
And now I will ask the question everyone has been dying to ask: what was the charge?

As former law enforcement I am assuming the OP meant felony hindering apprehension.
Class D felony with up to 5 year sentence.

What were you trying to avoid being apprehended for?
I looked it up and it says person is tipped off, or does whatever to avoid being taken into custody. So there's another charge and then trying to not get taken into custody ( apprehended ) charge?
Why do many of the folks who start these threads never come back?

Because they don't have access to a computer in jail?

Persephone Paige,
Probably because they have been apprehended and there's no access to AllNurses.com when you're in county lock-up. LOL
From what I read, it means that you deliberately helped someone avoid being taken into custody-a romantic partner, child, friend, etc., when you knew they had broken the law or were being sought by authorities. I would guess that felony hindering apprehension means that the person being sought by LE had done something pretty serious.
You made me spit my water out! LOL

What ever the circumstance, I am hoping that things go well. Having worked in Forensics, people are often charged with a feloney but the charge is not picked up that way by the DA. Good luck.
