Okay, so I'm 99% sure my 3 month old has one.

In the meantime, going to the ped. Is desitin/balmex cream good or not good for a yeasty diaper rash? (I'm also changing frequently and leaving the diaper off for periods)

My pediatrician and his associates recommend OTC Lotrimin cream.

Poor baby! ? When my kids got diaper rashes, my oldest sister told me to blend the following ingredients together and apply:

1/2 cup unbleached flour

1/2 cup 100% corn starch

blend the two together

spread out evenly on a cookie sheet

place in preheated oven set at 350 degrees

let brown. let cool. apply to diaper rash each diaper change.

It worked on my baby overnight! I recommended it to my kids to use on their kids when they had diaper rashes, and it worked on them, too. Try it...let me know if it works on your little one. ?

I would not recommend Desitin or Balmex on a suspected yeast rash. Sit baby in a tub of warm water with vinegar for as long as she'll cooperate. Keep the diaper off or loosely applied to allow as much air to the skin as possible. Good luck! This, too, shall pass!

My baby just got over a terrible yeast rash and I used equal parts of Desitin, A&D ointment, and Maalox. It seemed to ease the pain for him, if nothing else. We ended up getting a Rx for Nystatin cream. I don't know which helped more, but the rash finally went away.

Maalox or mylanta works well for excoriations to the skin, used it many times. I always used the starch that you use on clothes , the bluish powder kind in the box. Works wonders for diaper rash. However, yeast is another story. I always went and bought some OTC female yeast products (if I did'nt have nystantin) and mixed it with lantiseptic then rubbed it on. Rash , Gone in no time....

Be careful w/powders, not great for lungs. If you decide to use one (Caldescene was a good one for my son), turn sort of sideways to the baby, sprinkle it on your fingertips or a damp washcloth, and then apply it to Sweet Cheeks. Some rashes prefer dry, some like wet.

Try a mixture of nystatin cream and desitin cream in equal amounts. This treatment was given to us from a nurse at SD Childrens Hosp. and it works great. I don't use anything else on our little girl who is a tube feeder on the Ketogenic diet. Since your baby is only three months old use sparingly on the affected area. Also you might want to check with your MD if its okay. ?
