I'd become very wealthy from settlement, retire to somewhere nice and all that but only after filing complaint. Really, too many let abuses by MDs and pts slide. NOT this gal! I had a surgeon once curse me on the phone-he was very famous for this-and once he started into his tirade, I said "although I enjoy your colorful use of language, I really am trying to get something done about Ms. X, her labs are a trainwreck." He stopped for about 1 minute-I think I truly shocked the s**t out of him, then in a calm voice, went on like nothing out of the ordinary was ever said. I still see him on the floor, and he likes for me to take care of his pts-says I get the job done, and his pts like my humor and wit!

What would I do? Pretty much the same thing I'd to with anybody who physically assaulted me. And afterwards, I'd stop any of their obvious bleeding, splint anything broken, then call the police.

Ooo! Ooo! I have one!...
There is this doctor who hasnt attacked out of anger....he's just creepy:eek:.
When walking past female staff at the desk, he'll brush up against them, or graze their arm with his fingers....ugh!!! Or you'll look up and he's staring...makes you wonder what lewd thoughts are running through his mind...just gross...haven't seen any angry rants from doctors though.

I have never been physically attacked and do not anticipate such a thing. However, in the event that it does happen I can assure that I have no problem prosecuting to the full extent of the law and I couldn't give a rat's behind if adminstration backed me up or not.
This. Honestly I've never had a significant problem with a physician.

My mom was a hospital volunteer in the early 1970s, and once saw a "respected" OB backhand a nurse in the nurse's station.
This doctor was well known for (among other things) doing unnecessary episiotomies and then sewing the women up so tight, they couldn't have sex with their husbands.

If I was hit I would call the police and press charges.

I would seriously have to hope that my lightning-fast reflexes did not kick in, causing me to deck the SOB right then and there.
Accidentally, right Angie. :chuckle

seen doctors yell and curse, but never get physical. I can't believe the stuff I'm reading!!! By my account, there ought to be quite a few very rich former nurses floating around. That's what I'd be if a doc ever hit me....

...had a newly-delivered placenta thrown at me, landed at my crotch level on my white scrub dress (this was in the 70s in a small military hospital and women weren't wearing scrub pants & shirt then). All because I asked the doctor what if anything, he wanted done with the placenta. He said, what am I supposed to do with it, eat it? It was my first delivery with him, and some of the docs wanted the whole placenta saved, or the cords, for research. I was a lowly Army corpsman. We became friends after that...after my charge nurse took care of it.
Oh my! I can't even imagine...

I had one yell at me and cuss me up one side of the hall and back down the other. Administration got several complaints about this doctor cussing out a nurse. He was cussing at me about something that happened the day before and I was off that day. He wouldn't even let me get a word in edgewise. I ended up ducking into the nurses locker room to get away from him. He never apologized but has been nice to me ever since. My manager said she was sorry about what happened and that administration did talk to him. An apology would have been nice.

Gee, it would be just terrible if I ever had to use my martial arts training (green belt, Taekwondo).:sstrs:
