Can I get a HOOYAH!
Share your vices and guilty pleasures.
For example: Every Sunday I order a Pizza and watch the Walking Dead.
(This post is in response to all of the "FIT" topics that I see)
MMMMM.... Must go to the store....And for my little rewards when I'm trying to be healthy, I'll have a square of Ghirardelli's dark chocolate with sea salt. Makes my tummy tingle so nicely. Or some Reese's pieces.
!
I don't buy those either these days. I can go through bag in a couple of hours. The Ghirardelli's squares.
Of all my "guilty pleasures," double stuff Oreos are at the top of this list. Oh my gosh...give me some trashy TV (sappy Hallmark movies) and a glass of milk and I can finish, well, a lot. I'm young and healthy and at a normal weight, but nonetheless one of my college nursing friends STILL (several-ish years after college) reminds of that time I ate almost an entire package of oreos at someone's birthday party. Can't say that I feel totally guilty over it either.
On the savory side of things, a good hot dog (and yes, I realize that pig innards can't really be considered quality, but any fellow hot dog connoisseurs definitely know that a Hebrew National hotdog is soooo much better than a random Oscar Meyer one!) and crispy, perfect onion rings are my faves. Pretty sure my last meal would include onion rings and Oreos amongst other things.
I have scaled way back on the sweets and salty snacks that used to be a staple in my diet. In fact, for five days out of the week, I do not eat dairy products or meat and I stay on a pretty strict diet that is high in fiber. This has cured some of my issues. I still crave all of the other stuff, though and have to fight it on a daily basis. Just reading "cookie dough" made my knees weak. But if I start that up again, who knows when it will end. I LOVE FOOD. In particular I miss tiramisu, tres leche, bbq potato chips, warm chocolate chip cookies and hearty hamburgers and french fries. Ah, those were the days when I could eat whatever I want and not have a care in the world about it. But life has to be and is good in other ways now. Plus, I don't completely deprive myself. I'm just selective about the amount and when I indulge.
I am also a fan of Ben & Jerry's..... Brownie Cheesecake ice cream
Okay...wait....how did I not know this existed?
I love good fried chicken. I can eat fried chicken until I make myself sick. I marinate it in buttermilk and then dredge it in seasoned flour and fry it in lots of oil. My Christmas present from my husband three years ago was a giant cast iron pan big enough to fry chicken for the whole family (7 people).
I love fried zucchini. It probably doesn't even qualify as a vegetable anymore once you tempura-batter and deep-fry it, and then drown it in buttermilk ranch.
Other indulgences are chocolate, Pepsi, red wine, cheesecake, goopy cheesy Mexican platters with a prickly pear margarita from my favorite local place, roast pork lo mein, and Papa Murphy's pizza.
I do love Downton Abbey too, and the kids have gotten me into Dr. Who and Sherlock. When the hubz and I have a couple hours we will watch Hell on Wheels. We're at least a season behind. Are they even making that show anymore?
