New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

Hi Patuman,

You can state in your visa application that you would like to return to the Phils in the middle of your program as there is a question about this(i think its in the 1st page). I said yes to this question and I was given a multiple entry 1 year visa.

Cheers,

Maggie

Hi Patuman,

Am staying at Shenton Park. It takes me 13-15 minutes walk to reach the hospital from my place.

We will meet as I have met the people whom I just corresponded through the net before.

Just keep on hoping and working on the realization of your dream.

Cheers,

Maggie

Thanks Maggie, for the add. Will it be also possible for me to stay there if I'll be accepted by HPH? How much is the rent? Is this the place ( pics below) Thanks.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Can I please again remind people not to post personal details even addresses where you are staying. The internet isn't as private as you think

hi nursemavi!

Congrats!

I would like to ask something about the tourist visa...tourist visa is valid for 3 months stay in Australia but for multiple entry 1 year visa, one can go back and forth to Australia for a year with a maximum of 3 months stay every time he/she enters Australia. Am i right?

Just curious coz some course providers (esp in Victoria) have 12 weeks bridging course. I know that there are other available visa like occupational trainee visa but it will take around 2 months to process it and i think the course provider is required to nominate a trainee to immigration office in adelaine before you can lodge your application here in the philippines.

thanks :wink2:

congratulations joeturtle!

Hope I'll follow your footsteps through God's help.

i dont have any working experience so I signed up on a consultancy mainly for employment after the cas. They gave me some review materials but I think I'll also study those books that you mentioned. Thinking that my parents invested soo much in this made me desperate to pass all the 4 modules, and knowing that YOU DID IT gave me an inspiration. I hope we will all be successful! I will be praying for your part B exam. Congaratulations!! GOD BLESS!

Joe turtle... hope you dont mind sending me a PM regarding the books to read for the challenge... thanks:yeah:

Hi Maggie, may i ask how many years/months of training/voluteer experience do you have? Just curious because you seem confident of your skills for the BP.. Example, if you have 9 months experience in ICU, then i understand that it's a big thing.. At least, i know what level of nsg experience should i have to be confident enough during clinical placement.. thanks as always..

i also have that kind of tor. schools issued it for board exam purposes only.

just asked for another copy in your university. no special remarks needed.

same with rle.

while waiting for the confirmation letter from qnc that i am allowed to take the challenge test,

i've had started reviewing transition to professional practice.

my golly wow. i've been studying the first chapter for a week now and yet i'm not done.

i am having a hard time understanding their setting and nurse roles and relationships.

so many things going on. entirely diffrent from the philippines. haayyy..

it's really hard to study while working.

haayyy....:zzzzz

punjabi is it necessarily to have a score of 6.5 in reading, listening and 7 in writing and speaking in ielts do they have a consideration what if i only failed the writing part and ol of them are passed.

Hi nyk,

Yes my license # starts with 047 (fortunately). BTW, I am a 'she" and applying at NMBWA. I am not trying for CAS (yet hi hi).

If you won't mind my asking, how about your IELTS? Do you have the needed score already? If NOT, then maybe better do the IELTS first while waiting for the Initial Registration Certificate. But if you already have the required IELTS score, then (if I were you) I will ask the PRC for some kind of Certification that you really have the Initial Registration Certificate. ( below is what they did for me):

If you have this na, have it copied and notarized, send the notarized copy to the Registering Body, attach some sort of cover letter asking for some consideration, if ever they could accept this certification. This might also preced your Verification of Initial Registration.

It is an extra effort and extra expense, but "if it will do the trick", then it's worth trying.:smokin:What do you think?

This just a suggestion. Your's is the final move. More power and concentration.. and action. ( he he).

Good luck sis.

Thanks sis,

hehe, i hope the PRC here in Manila are easy to talk to when i request this document..i do hope i can get this soon. More action to us all. I am done with the IELTs so i guess i need to do this request from the PRC. What did you actually call it when you requested it. So did QNC accept this from you sent to them or its still not sure if they will accept it ?

Sorry about the BRO, thought you were one... patuman01, really sorry about that.
