New grad Filipino nurse wanting to work in Australia/New Zealand

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone, please help me.

I graduated last march 2007 here in the Philippines and I have my license here already.

Because of oversupply of nurses here, it's too difficult to find a job.

That's why I'm looking forward to working in Australia or New Zealand.

However, I'm confused. Esp about Australia.

I already have my bachelors degree here.

When I go there in Aus to work as RN, must I take a diploma in nursing first? can I work while studying?

After obtaining my diploma there, am I already a registered nurse?

Thank you!

it's a wise idea for me... but promise not to put this thread in oblivion just in case you push through. I still find myself clinging to this thread. *sep. anxiety* lol

I promise you this thread will still be available at the moment, who knows many years down the line it may have to go but I don't see that happening at the moment :)

Will review this tomorrow and see what others have to say regarding starting a more up to date thread

help... i kinda forgot which page on this thread: Do employers have to sign our CV's? did you scan their letters of Recommendation and paste on your CV? this is confusing for me.... did you include your subjects or RLE? hhhaaaaaaay!

thanks in advance to any good soul who is willing to help :-)

hello jakey,

i didnt let them sign my CV, I just attached the cert. of service,.. i believe that's what the other forumers(liaa, salmonella, sweet_tooth) did as well. subjects and rle? what do you mean? in my case, i have attached a TOR, a course description and a copy of the summary of my rle in my application...

Let me know what you think as this thread is getting long and does hold info that isn't applicable anymore?

Silverdragon,

I think that would be a fantastic idea, and would advocate for it. As someone who is newly looking into international nursing, this thread holds a wealth of knowledge that, while incredibly useful, now carries the possible detriment of being outdated. I feel uncertain of which posts to trust, and while I completely understand that the accountability lies with only myself to get the information correct, I extensively use this forum as a springboard to direct my thoughts and queries. As the questions and ideas in this thread become outdated, so do the questions of the new seekers.

If it would be possible to put in the title of the thread that it contains valuble pre-2010 information, as well as linking the old thread in the new thread; I think this would help new readers.

Thank you so much to all of the contributors of this thread, you have answered many of my questions.

major major thank you cioman  gotta check page44. yeah i guess i should really seek professional advice regarding immigration.

and before they close this thread, lemme say TY to all those unselfishly shared infos tho i didn't notice some were out-of-date already [just a 4day-old member of this site]. BUT this is really really helpful! :yeah:

thanks cioman for your post! my friend did not receive any hard copy of the eligibility since May, so she mailed 'em again but NMBWA said that they sent it already to her address, tsk tsk tsk, where could it be...
