Hi guys!
I was hoping to get to know some of the people that will be applying to the Spring 12 nursing program.
I've been following the MDC Fall 2011 =) thread and I'm super excited for them, but now I'm even more excited since this time it's finally me who is applying to the nursing program.
So...who else is applying???? :redbeathe
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I emailed my advisor because last semester I never even received a rejection until I finally got ahold of my advisor and she had it emailed to me.
I will remian hopefull for the next round and maybe just maybe I will make it in as a 3rd round draft pick!
AlexLL: My opinion is that you should have it all done before orientation However, I think that drug test, the physicals and the titters are the ones required for now. But you need to have the vaccines (if you are not immune) before clinicals start.
Hep B is optional, but I got it because I want to be on the safe side. This one is 3 doses and I have to go in a month to get the other one, and then again 6 month later for last one.
If you can get it all done before orientation it'll be perfect because you won't have to worry about that anymore. Don't you think?
This morning I will accept the accelerated !!!!!!!!Therefore, for all still waiting another generic spot will be available!!!!!Good luck to everyone and don't lose faith cause more people will get in soon!!!!!!!!
I already ordered an rolling backpack which will be very handy when the program starts!I will post the link so anyone interested can take a look cause they have reasonable prices , free shipping and 10% rebate discount at check out!It cost me 62 $, and I know is one of the best choices since another nursing student recommend it! http://www.rockymountaintrail.com/outdoor/backpacks/book_bags/rolling_backpacks/Kudos to everyone in accelerated and can't wait to meet you at orientation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats to all those who have just gotten their acceptance e-mails! I know the wait must have been SO PAINFUL!
Georla,
CONGRATS especially to you since you are part of the accelerated crew! I hope you can get all your medical stuff sorted out. As a heads up to you and anyone going to take the drug test, make sure u drink LOTS of water before you get there. I went to the lab to take the drug test and the lady told me I had to FILL UP the cup with urine!!! And it was a HUGE CUP!! I sat there drinking and drinking water, but i guess the pressure got to me and I couldn't pee on command! lmao!!! it was incredibly ironic since I swear I diagnose myself with an overactive bladder syndrome. lolzzz... ok i know that was a bit of a personal and weird story to break the ice, but just be prepared! Btw, i went to LabCorp...
Blissberry,
Unfortunately I can't get around it because I don't live in Miami-Dade so I can't even qualify for it. They told me to apply at the Broward office and the Broward office is a lot more strict. I don't think it will work out, but i'll still give it a try. The funny thing is, I was on unemployment for the summer since I was surplused with the Broward County Public Schools budget cut. BUT, I tried hard and long and got myself employed this school year, and now I'm finding out that if I hadn't tried, and I worked the system I would have gotten this nursing program paid for! And I been bustin my butt, putting up with these kids to pay my way through this program! lolzzz... i'm not mad cuz i'm happy to be a productive citizen, it's just ironic to me how I could have worked the system and got it all laid out for me... lolzzz...
On a LIGHTER note, I am going to the CPR class in North campus on Saturday. Anyone else going?!?!?
congrats to all who have recently received the acceptance letters. for those waiting, please don’t be discouraged i am sure a few more letters will go out soon. but don't give up on you dreams if you don’t get in this time around. last year i actually applied to keiser and paid around $400 in app fees (i was an idiot for paying this but i really wanted to start my nursing career) and i got rejected! (how dare they reject me) lol........ i has heart broken and felt i was not good enough if i couldn't get into keiser but then i picked myself up and took my classes at mdc, applied to their program and got in (hooray).
i always thought to myself that everything happens for a reason, i didn't get accepted at keiser because god had a different plan for me and his plan was defiantly better! so keep your head up and keep on trying. it will work yout for you too.:)
OMG.. I feel like I've been gone for forever but congrats to those who finally got their acceptance letters. you gus rock!!! :clpty:
As far as those who are still waiting, please don't give up hope. I've read in past forums where people literally received their emails at the very last minute. And just think, if you don't get in this semester (which I'm really hoping you all do), you can always just reapply -- and get accepted the second time around like me !!! :anpom:
SN: I just ordered my littman classic ii stethoscope FROM ONLINE of course!!! I went to the bookstore today at the medial campus and starting price was $83 -- no way. I had already paid over $100 for various things like the lab coat, name tag, and the uniform bottoms. So if you guys want something a little cheaper, check out allheart.com (can't remember the price) and/or medisave.net (for like $75)...
** Just a suggestion **
You may be able to get it cheaper on another website...
CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ORIENTATION AND TO SEE SOME OF YOU GUYS THERE!!!
