Hi! I'm just curious how far everyone plans to go in their education. Also, the time frame that you hope to complete your schooling. And I guess what you hope to specialize in. This is purely out of curiousity!
I'll start! I'm 21 years old and I will start my 2 year ADN program next fall. I will graduate when I'm 24 when I will complete a year long (24 credit) RN-BSN. I then hope to finish my MSN by the time I'm 26, at the same school that I complete my BSN at. I want to be a Midwife!
I know a lot of people believe you should work for awhile first and then go back to school but I want to get it all done with while I'm single, free of children, etc.
Of course this all depends on passing ADN school, getting into the BSN and MSN program, etc. I'm lucky though and have few responsibilities other than NS so I think I'll be okay. Plus, I have my eyes set on a school that is not as competitive so I have a much better chance.
ps sorry if i looked over a post like this... i didn't see any though.

I have a bachelor's in psych and history that I got when I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Now I'm working on an accelerated BSN, and will graduate December of '08. I know I will want to further my education beyond that, and I am seriously considering becoming a CRNA. I plan to work ICU as soon as possible after graduation - they hire new grads in my area - and get as much experience as I can, and to shadow a few to make sure it's something I would be really interested in. If not, I still want to become an advanced practice nurse of some type, I'll just have to see what else fascinates me. I have a supportive husband, there are two CRNA programs in the city we live in, and there are two more in a city we could realistically move to, so I'm lucky in that I'll probably be able to pursue that if I so choose.

I have a degree in music and am applying to an accelerated MSN program. After that I plan to work part time (probably weekend nights) a while so I can be home with my kids. Eventually I'd like to become an NNP, possibly also teach college.
That's the plan anyway. I might find another area that I love during nursing school and kick this plan to the curb LOL!

I'm 31 and in June I'll be finished with my ADN, once I get my license and work for 2 years I can go back from a direct RN-MSN for NP and I'm also going to complete the educators block and get my teaching certificate as well, that is a 2-1/2 yr program if you go full time, I'll more than likely do part time and take a little longer as the past 3 yrs have been hard enough on hub & kids lol

I'm in nursing school BSN plan to get MSN-NP then DNP maybe specialize in peds or geri. Done with school in less then two years then take a year off, go back and get MSN. So i'll be 26 then. Pop out a few kids, work, etc.. then DNP. Not exactly sure how long I'll take off in between those two. Hopefully all done with school before I'm 35. WOO HOO

I'm finishing up ADN, and then I may go to direct-entry MSN. My instructors are really pushing me to go father so I am investigating it.

The plan is to get my ADN, then work on the BSN, and then eventually get my MSN. I want to have my ADN complete by age 30, then I will work on my BSN as time allows whether that be part time or a class a semester. Depending on where I am in my career I may wait awhile before going for my MSN. I do want to have a family and some free time to enjoy my life in my 30's!!

I will be starting a direct-entry MSN program in January. I am already giving thought to a PhD, NNP, or perhaps CRNA but haven't really decided which one.
I'm sure that my first master's won't be my last advanced degree, though.

I'm 27 and I finish my BSN in December. I plan to continue straight into my MSN in education. Then I will get a certification as a FNP and then in about 10 years, I'm getting my CRNA.
That's the plan.

I am 38 yrs old. I will graduate LPN school 2 months after I turn 39. Once I graduate LPN I plan on bridging over to RN. I'm going for my ADN. Maybe at a later date I'll get the BSN but honestly, I don't want to teach, or be in a managerial position so I just might stop at ADN.
My ulitmate goal is being a NICU nurse (L&D is another passion I'd love to work). I don't want to go into management. I want to stay bedside so BSN really won't benefit me that much. Maybe once my little one is a bit older and more self reliant (she's only 5 now) I may go back for my BSN or MSN. I guess only time will tell.

I'm in a BSN program now and will graduate in 2010, at 30 years of age. Want to work in the ICU, pref. the NICU...settle down and have a child or two while getting a few years experience. When my child starts school then I will think about going into a Master's program, either Neonatal NP, or CRNA...most likely NNP
